I decided to post this because alot of people are not as gifted as I am when it comes to buildn' cage

Go to the store and buy just regular vent covers and do it that way. That is going to be the best ventilation you are going to get really. IMHO I think you should have sanded the 2x4s down really good first and also I think you should have used plywood instead of particle board. Particle board doesn't hold up to moisture one bit. If you didn't coat it well enough you may have problems. Also idk about that plexi. It looks too thin and there is no frame to keep it from flexing...

Chad

I dont bother with building a frame because they cause too many hard to clean corners.

The particle boardwill "bubble" and expand in spots from moisture, I would in the very least put a couple of thick coats of poly on the cage.

I also agree about the plexi, either use a router to "picture frame" it or use thick plexi.

Also those heat pads are NOT meant for wood enclosures let alone being wrapped in news paper!!!

It may be harder to clean but that plexi is going to be so easy for that 25 pound boa to push right open....Just look at the corners and stuff. I would deffinatly add a frame or something atleast.

Chad

ditto on the plexi, that boa won't be able to break it most likely but it will be able to bend it. also, get a controller for the heat pad before your snake gets burned, i had one of my leopard geckos get burned bad(all the toes on her hind feet are fused together) because i didn't have a controller on the heat pad. as for vents, i'd go to a craft store and buy a sheet or two of vinyl/plastic mesh and just drill a couple 2" holes and put a cover on both sides. the mesh won't hurt the snake and costs less than a buck for a 1'x2' peice.

very nice I am going to use this when I build my enclosure for my tegus

:D

I am not trying to start anything rather just point something out and maybe make some suggestions but....why is it that Z-trip can get on everybody for their problems and stuff and be a jerk about it but as soon as somebody criticizes his work he dissapears. And I know it isn't just because he hasn't been on because you have been posting. I am not trying to start something rather just suggest that if you can dish it out you better be able to take it. Also I am trying to be nice about my criticizing too. Strictly constructive :D

Chad

I know I need to get some vents, I just need mo money. As for everything else, I was not planning on housing a RTB, and I plan on gettin grid of it ASAP.

Z

That Boa decides to give the corners of the plexi a good push and you may be rid of it sooner than you think!
