Im not doubting that 70% came in dead but I can tell u I have received many boxes of rays in the past and I cant specifically remember any DOA leopoldi. Im sure there were a few that arrived in bad shape and died days later but very few rays that arrive without broken bags were DOA.

I seem to remember a larger number of DOA rays coming from Peru especially larger species that damaged the bags etc and the smaller cheaper species are packed 4 or more to a box. Most 1 to a box leos come in alive and kicking....Colombia also doesnt ship as well as brazil. In my opinion some of the best shipments always came from brazil.

Big difference between 12 hr flight from Brazil to USA and 48-60 hr flight from Brazil to Asia. Even when we ship captive pups to Asia the long flight times takes it toll on animals.

the rays sit alot longer than 12 hours when shipped from Brazil usually double that and up to 36 plus hrs when u figure time in the box from facility to facility but yes I do agree its much longer to asia....

A 70 percent loss is unacceptable. If they cant ship em alive they shouldnt ship em

It was the first one...any number of things could be the cause of this disaster...They probably fed the rays heavily, or there was a few with very full bellies, and blam....How were they packed Mike? Have you asked any of that? I am guessing they were crated...

I have never seen any black rays crated. They are usually shipped in what people call a brazil box, its a standard 18 by 18 styro double bagged and no outer cardboard.

Wow:WHOA: That is terrible to see. Any idea what happened?
