stocking for a oscar tank...

An Oscar and a few SD's is all you have room for in a 90 g. If you're talking multiple cichids you need bigger than a 4' tank. Fish don't use the height of a tank so to them a 90 g is no bigger than a 75 g.

Good point, you really wont get away with 2 fully grown cichlids in a 4ft long tank?!

I believe you are too likely to have territorial disputes among an Oscar and a Green Terror in a 90 gallon

Sure, bioload wise, you could have them both in there.

But space for territories is very limited and Green Terrors didnt get that name because they are big on sharing.
And Oscars like to have a good section of tank for digging.

I tried adding a GT to my Oscar tank while they were still young and the GT started beating on the 2 Oscars I already had in the tank.
(now keep in mind -> these were fish under 4" and the tank was 125 gallons)

now, i'm not saying it wont work.... its been done before.
It just depends on the individual fish and if they want to coexist.

It has worked for me but i find that the oscar has to be at least 2" bigger then the terror or the terror will beat it up
Although i suppose it just depends on the terror's temper
There is a high chance that the terror will kill the oscars at some time because of terratorial disputes like my terror slaughtered my syno

I am feeling GT is quite risk for my tank..will there any other american cichlid options for my tank?

it's all hit and miss depending on how each fish is I have 1 GT and 2 Oscars currently in a 75 gallon tank the Oscars are about 6" each and the GT is about 5.5" the 3 of them get along just fine and have never really fought. I have more problems with my little Convict nipping at the GT's dorsal fin when he's somewhere the convict doesn't want him at. The convict is just over 2" in size.

Thorichthys ellioti ;)

i have had a gt and a oscar together since they were 2" or so they are now 8"oscar and 6" gt and they do fine together

a 3 foot tank is too small for an oscar.
