Stocking help for a 220g

 • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How many Cichla could I fit in a 220g?

I think a discus comunity tank is most jawdrapping for both those that keep fish and those who don't when they see it. Those who know fish, know the work it takes to keep them and those who don't keep fish r dazzled by the colors.

If it was me I would put:
6 discus
5 angels
2-3 bichirs
1 black ghost knife
a bunch of gouramies of different species

Another route I could go would be:
Oscars, Green Terrors, Polleni/Bleeker with a bunch of small cichlids as dithers like convicts, cutteri, acaras

If i go discus it would be something like this:
25 black neons
15 Silver Hatchet (Gasteropelecus sternicla)
2 clown loaches
1 Angelicus Botia Loach (Botia angelicus)
1 Chinese hi fin banded shark Myxocyprinus asiaticus
11 discus
7 rainbowfish (Melanotaenia boesemani)
9 panda coreys
2 Royal Farlowella Cat (Sturistoma sp.)
Gold Nugget Pleco (L-18)

But I love Peacock bass and aro's just dont like the idea of having to build an addition on the house in order to house them properly...

Don't get the panda Corys with the discus set up, they are a subtropical fish and if kept over 75 degrees there life spanish is considerably short. Most websites say Corys live 3-4 years, but this is short. I have 2 peppered Corys one over 3 inches, at 7 years and they can do 10+ if housed right. I would get the setup you mentioned but make sure the clown loaches are atleast 3-4" and then add a delhizi or Senegal or another smaller growing upper jawed species.

?????? any more ideas?

Go with a all male Victorian tank! Second choice would be to get a nice small Jardini and watch him grow!

how about going the african rift lake route with malawis

+1 on this, because thats what I have but I get compliments from everyone! I will only add one picture so I don't hijack the tread, but a link to the last little photo shoot I had.

Just to give some scale the fish "yawning" in the middle is just over 10" long and will get almost twice as big when fully matured.

wot about some of the larger central american breeds Cichlasoma salvini or Amphilophus trimaculatus altho they are difficult to mix with other types of fish they look stunning and i had my Amphilophus trimaculatus in with a clown knife fish and a few different cat fish with no problems

So let’s say I ordered a few thousand dollar tank setup and don’t know what to put in it. The list of things I would like should get smaller not bigger right? Then why is it that the more I think the more I look the more I can’t figure out what I want? My name is David and i have a problem.
