Stocking ideas for a non-standard 55gallon

And my Columbian tetra bully any fish their size or smaller for a while after introduction so no surprise there.
That does sound like a pair. let them have their fry and babies in the comm tank. If you pull them you'll soon end up with more than is desirable and most lfs won't even give credit anymore.

Sounds like a pair has formed. I would probably leave them in there with the other fish so long as they don't start killing the others. Separating them from the group could cause them to turn on each other, especially if the new tank was smaller. If you want the fry to live, leave them with the parents until they are free-swimming and large enough to eat crushed flake food or first bites, etc. then separate them to a small tank with a seeded sponge filter.

Just let the tetras do what they do and eat up all the fry. It’ll be fun to watch every month or so when the pair goes into there routine and it’s life food for everyone else.

Honest answer- it just depends. Sometimes it’s all part of the same action sometimes it takes days. I have a pair of pikes tht im figuring out- when I think they’re going to spawn tomorrow- it’s going to be another week…

I keep a few species of Andinoacara and they pretty much spawn as soon as they start acting like it.

from your description I’d be looking for eggs at any time.I’d be ready to feed fry in about 5 days- and that would give memsomemleeeway becuase it’s probably more like 8 from what you described to when you see free swimmers.

but it all depends. May take them a while to settle down and figure it out- they may take a few days to whip everyone’s ass thoroughly before they feel secure enough or They may spawn eat the eggs and kill each other without you seeing any of it (not too likely, but it happens)

Actually kill eachother? I hope not.
I think the eggs are infertile. And if they are fertile, i dont think they will last. Since its the first time ever they spawned. Theyll probably eat them right?

mid thwy get fungus just Pull them. They may eat them or they may not. Some pairs get it quicker than others.
