Well I was saying he's not trying to be sneaky, it's instinct. He sees you as a threat and hides but once you're gone he opens up. And ofc he's the most aggressive, he's 40% larger than everyone in there apart from the O!
Oh and if you know for sure the convict is male, just from what I've heard, I wouldn't recommend any female CA cichlids... That's just my first thought but I could be totally wrong.
Jd isnt doing anything wrong hes just being a cichlid. Probably the most dominant and he wants everyone else to know it. This imo is going to be a crap shoot...may calm down for a while then flare up as they grow.
I have 10 vieja zonatus in a 75 all are between 1 and 2 inches. They are eventually getting a 125 to 150 The goal is the get a pair or a really good looking dominant male. I started with 11 already lost one to aggression. Reason why im telling you this just keep your expectations in check. You may deal with aggression on and off until the other tank is built
Sigh... Lol I know. I thought I was doing him a favor because I know they are slow growers and wanted to give him a jump on the oscars phenomenal growth rate. But I'm the end I got back into this because of my love for oscars, I was just hoping to have some other fish also with the Oscar as well.
Think I should get a female JD and give this one more go before getting another Oscar?
Or do you think a 300 could handle my current list keeping a female JD and having two oscars?
I know filtration won't be an issue, I always over filter my tanks and am diligent with water changes.
Oh and I should be in the process of building the 300 come November basically. So this won't be very long term in the 75, plus my fiancé already is eyeing this 75 for her silly guppies and mollies.

The con is 100% male, so is the JD. I figured with the JD getting a female and removing this male JD they female JD would not be as aggressive, or does that mean nothing? Just always thought you didn't want all males in the tank.
I dont think you'll have a problem in the 300...i just think your going to have a constant headache until you get there. Sexing fish at these sizes is realy hard.
Plus with that many fish i would do 2 wc per week. Rmember oscars are prone to hith (bad water conditions and stress, also from parasites)
