Storage of media while modifying sump

how big of a tank do you have? I would do a sump, I’m just so paranoid about bypass.

filter rollers (I’ve also seen them called “sump-rollers”) look cool.

Damnit now I’m back at square one with sump vs canister.

for brackish and salt I’d do a sump no questions asked. But for fresh I’m on the fence
At the moment, I only have a 180gal with 2 sumps (one for semi terrestrial plants).

Before moving, when in the states I had about 20 tanks, and would usually run between 3 and 5 tanks per sump, average 100+ gallons each, 300 to 500 gallons per sump.
Although I would often ad a separate refugium/sump (with terrestrial and aquatic plants, invertebrates, fry) beside the filtraion/equipment in tandem with the sump line, if the fish (in my case cichlids) would destroy plants.
