So these snails in my tank aren't harmful to my tank or pose a threat to things in my tank? I mean if they are beneficial I might let them hang out for a little while I guess. But longterm to wipe em out would be lettuce and a loach from what I'm gathering. The only thing is with the loach I'd be afraid my gar would take a dabble and my ornate polypterus would probably as well
No, the good thing about assassin snails is that they don't breed fast, they breed rather slow if my memory is correct however I have not bred them and am merely repeating my findings from various threads online.Hmmm snails to fight off snails. Do these assassin snails get a little crazy to as far as population?

One caveat to this, don't get this species (or most other Paretroplus) unless your tank is over 6ft long.My favorite snail eating cichlids are the Paretroplus from Madagascar. If a tank became too overrun with snails, I'd move in a Paretroplus maculatus and within 24 hours the tank would be almost snail free.
They could crush small snails, but for large solid shelled ones they'd use their "can opener" like teeth to yank out the flesh.
