stupid LFS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I have one where I go in all the time and there is this one dumba$$ lady who still asks me what size tank I have and what tankmates the fish will have. It gets so annoying. She has been there for like a year and she still does this.

Sorry to post 2x cant figure out how to edit a quote in...

No one at my LFS has ever asked how big of a tank i had... exept for one time that my G/F over stocked her 10 gal. never have refused to sell me anything either.

sorry for dubble posting again!

I think a conversation with the boss is in order. This employee certainly needs some training.

Kinda like the smart asif chickie @ the Radio Shock that tried to sell me 3&1/2 inch floppy disks & said they were "Hard" disks. & then argued the point w/me.

The lfs folks that know you will be kelpfull & admit when they are not sure, she sounds like a "know it all"

if this employee needs training, then I say give it to her.:swear:

i hate when stores do that.......i tried to buy three 3 inch clown loaches for my 55 and the chick there told me i couldn't even grow em out cuz they get 12 inches.....i got so pissed i told her to learn about her job and walked out........but i agree with freeskierrocket try to get friendly with some of the people at one of your lfs that's what i did and they give me free crap all the time.............

Sometimes its nice that the Lfs people ask you questions about what kind of tank you have.. that way they wont sell an Oscar to someone with a 10 gallon... but I dont think they can REFUSE to sell you something.. as long as shes stated to you that you will need a bigger tank... even though in this circumstance shes wrong.

The lfs I go to rarely ask me when I try to buy a fish.. but they have given me good advice. When I first got into crayfish I wanted to buy 2. The guy asked me what size tank and I told him 10 gallons.. he said that they would fight b/c they need more room.. they didnt actually refuse me but I only bought one because of the advice...

I just say 500 gallons, no tankmates every time. They learn eventually. These three neons will be very happy!

Haha. Everybody at my LFS knows me and always hooks us up when we trade in fish and stuff like that. I know the fish room manager and that is an awsome way to get free fish and reptiles. She once gave me a fullgrown crested gecko for a full grown golden gecko. A $50 lizard for a $12 lizard.

I'm sorry sir; The filter flow rate needed for a tank of that size will clearly suck the neons into the filter with a force likely to invert their bodies. I just can't sell them to you knowing they will be turned inside out.

:ROFL: :confused::hitting: :WTF:

I hate that place:swear: I said I bought 3 silverdollars after the birchir incident. I thought one of the silverdollars looked weird but i was to pissed to care. It turns out that one of the silverdollars was a piranha and killed the other two. So I went back down to the LFS demanding a full refund for the piranha and the two SD it killed. They told me it wasn't a piranha and silverdollars are extreamly aggressive. I was like compared to what I keep aggressive fish and my two inch grommadoe could kill a SD. They finally agreed that it was a piranha. I was stunned when they handed me a card for $8.95 store credit. each silverdollar cost that I told them that I wanted a full cash refund for all the fish. They said that because they had no bodies they couldn't reimburse me. I told them all that was left of the fish were chunks stuck to the filter intakes. They said there was nothing they could do and i spoke to the manager who didn't do nothing just kept screwing me over. Then I said I had better things to do with my time than argue with morons and said I would never be coming back again. I think the reason they screwed my like that is because I'm 15 and they probably think i'm some moron who knows nothing about fish.

This thread annoys me,
all the time I see rants about fish like pacus and oscars being sold to people who have only 10g tanks, here is someone trying to be a responsible seller, even if they are misinformed.
The way to handle this is to ask for the manager and explain that you are an informed and responsible keeper and that you know the size the fish, both bichirs and silver dollars get to, be sure you DO KNOW. Make sure that the silver dollars (6") are not red hooks (14"), and that the bichir is indeed a senegal and not a P. endlicheri congicus (they do get to 3', are hard to find, and cost more) this picture is from primitivefish.com.
If they still refuse to sell or give you a hard time go elsewhere, but would you rather deal with a place that just doesn't give a damn?
Sheesh, the LFS clerks can't win.
