As stated before, many people that are starting the hobby don't have the kind of knowledge that MFK members do. A lot of fish keeping info is mis interpreted and distorted, "fish growing to the size of a tank" is a common myth that is spread around through society. Its easy to get caught up in what majority says. LFS will also distort info occasionally, and people not knowing the knowledge that is accumulated on this site will most likely trust a person who's business is in aquatics.
 
I know, ive been in fishkeeping since i was 10 so i do know i have more knowledge than the average fish keeper but sometimes im speechless at some of the things im asked. Im sure the computer repair guy is tired of me asking "where does this wire go."
I just wish some people would just think about it before they ask.
I had to make myself leave petco after trying to tell this guy his RD, GT, sun catfish, flame gourami and giant danio wont last long in a 10g, that he just bought.

Understood, just trying to get my point across, some people have lost their common sense, but some are legitimate questions

So I shouldnt put my pleco, oscar, 5 anglefish, 17 guppies that I bought from Petco today into my 5 gallon? By the way, i heard that oscar's eat poop, is this true? :popcorn:
 
Read any of my threads I've started since I've gotten here (which was not long ago at all), I've asked plenty of stupid questions. I'm a serious computer geek so in the comfort of my own geek forums I know that dealing with noob questions is a part of life.

...aaaand as a noob in the fish area, it doesn't matter how much research you do, sometime you just can't find an exact match. One site says cycle your tank, the other site says put in your old filter to help the cycle, another says don't use fishless cycling. Well, what about if I put 6 cups of my old gravel in, two small old filters, and 2 old plants THEN how long will I have to wait so I can transfer my fish so I can give my friend back his tank?

Find me a place online that answers that questions easily enough to make a noob confident and I'll stop posting stupid questions forever I promise
 
IMO: "noobie questions" don't bother me all that much...it's the noobies that think they know it all thats the problem! lol
