Read any of my threads I've started since I've gotten here (which was not long ago at all), I've asked plenty of stupid questions. I'm a serious computer geek so in the comfort of my own geek forums I know that dealing with noob questions is a part of life.

...aaaand as a noob in the fish area, it doesn't matter how much research you do, sometime you just can't find an exact match. One site says cycle your tank, the other site says put in your old filter to help the cycle, another says don't use fishless cycling. Well, what about if I put 6 cups of my old gravel in, two small old filters, and 2 old plants THEN how long will I have to wait so I can transfer my fish so I can give my friend back his tank?

Find me a place online that answers that questions easily enough to make a noob confident and I'll stop posting stupid questions forever I promise

There will not be a site that will give definitive answers to all of your questions. However, search engines can help a lot. There is also a search feature on this website that can be used. The problem isn't posting a "stupid" question, the problem is posting that question while numerous threads exist asking the exact same thing.

Like most other members, I'm willing to answer questions and give a scientific explanation to the best of my ability. However, certain members post a string of idiotic questions and ignore the advice given when good intentioned members try to help. Fortunately, members like this have been banned.

I've seen questions that seem really obvious to me but not everyone is a genius like me (j/k) so I figure big deal give them a break. Also, imo there's nothing wrong with posting a question that's been posted before. New information, experiences and opinions occur everyday so therefore you may get more information and opinions than the previous thread provided. Plus you feel more confident to take the advice given because it was directed to your personal situation. One last thing, once all the questions have been asked, should we just shut down MFK because we can't repeat any questions?

On the last part, I agree with you about people who ask questions, are given good sound advice but ignore it completely.

You guys are great!! Also, thanks for all the help you have given this nb.

As stupid as the questions are to you, a good part of the time they arent stupid to the people asking. I get sick of it sometimes too, till I remember I was that way not even that long ago, and considered a 55 a large tank.Would this forum be fun if everyone knew all the answers? I read alot of fish related material before I came on here, and was still a noob when I arrived. You just can't beat this site, and part of learning involves asking the questions (even though I am the type that would rather research first). However, I will admit I can't believe some of the questions that I read, till I realize in other forums I am unfamiliar with that I would probably ask something ever dumber. Also, the fact that you can get multiple opinions on your exact situation is a huge help too.

Your superciliousness and intolerance for those that know less has been noted. Now a few more newbie lurkers here will stay lurkers. BTW, do you eat poop by any chance?
