:nilly:

Well I fed my hognose today. I give her the mouse in the area under the heat so she came right up. I had my hand under there a little to long and jerked my hand back. The whole front glass top panel goes flying! It shatters on the ground but I kept the plastic parts. So now I have to call 'the glass doctor' and get a new peice.

:swear::wall:

stupid is what stupid does..... dont be so hard on yourself kid ..... its all part of the fun stuff about keeping reptiles. We screw things up and put them back together. Imagine if it was robotic how boring would that be? Routine Sucks!

Yeah I use those. I had to physically pick the snake up and put her near the feeding spot, and for some reason i kept my hand there. Shes venomous, so I use tongs anyway.

Thats only my 24241th dumb feeding mistake!

If you want to hear something stupid, how about this past March I was feeding my snakes one night. The rats were thawed but were only room temperature, and I decided I was going to dangle this rat (bare-handed mind you; I don't have hemostats or tongs or anything) in front of my male Borneo python. I do actually have a great wealth of snake-related knowledge in my head, so it shouldn't have come as a surprise when the snake smelled the cold rat but saw my warm hand moving around. It was the most painful of the few snakebites I've had, probably because I jerked my hand back and because he got me on the palm...tons of nerve endings :(

That was also the day I broke my finger on my other hand at work, so if anything I could blame my mistake on all the stress from the bad day. But all around it was a bad day for my hands.

is that hognose poisonous?

I think he's just trying to look cool saying he's got a venemous snake. If it bites him though, it'll probably just itch and sting for a while. He won't die or anything.
:p

Wow...well don't worry, we all make mistakes. How do you keep a venemous pet? I'd be way too afraid to get near it.

Hahaha yeah but its its really hard to them to get their itty bitty rear fangs in to inject, and thats even if they want to. My hognose doesnt even strike her food. I could hold it up in the air and shell calmy slither up and eat it right off the tongs.

Anyway, bites are supposed to itch and swell like a bad bee sting, but thats about it. Some people say it takes an abnormal amount of time to stop bleeding.

Trying to look cool? Nah, its the internet! :P

Dude theyre about as harmless as a corn snake. And 100x more calm IMO.
