i was at my lfs today and i saw a pretty brutal looking fish and the owner said it was a california sturgeon. all the info i can find on sturgeon relates to fishing. anyone keep em? all i know about em is that the owner said they get massive

im not sure about California sturgeons, but sturgeons get MASSIVE. do not get one unless you have a huge tank. 100 gallons is far too small. they get HUGE. i think in tenesse it is illegal to catch fish with a lassoe because that is the easiest way to catch a sturgeon. thats how big they get

hahahaha!! pretty good description.. a friend of mine keep one about 30" and he is just a fry basically.. I heard like 10' somewhere..

I bet it was a white sturgeon.

it was black but its underside is white. it was a little bigger than 6inches

i saw a LFS selling sturgeons for $14.99. I was interested but they get to big. they love a strong current and are very active. not picky eaters at all

it was most likely a sterlets. but theres a possibility that it could be a white sturgeon. white sturgeon get massive in the order of hundreds of pounds but the sterlets isnt known to get much over 3-4feet. but even so they require a stong current and a HUGE tank.
