Sue's geo/angel tank pics and will I have issues

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very nice tank, I don't see you having any issues between the geo's/angels.

I think a big clown loach would compliment the koi angel and give a bit more color to the tank.

Hey Sue, I commented on C-F but I'll leave a message here.

I'll be very surprised if you have any issues with Lemon Tetra disappearing to Angels and Orange Heads. Angels have quite small mouths and the high bodies on Lemon Tetra should mean they're too big to disappear. DeadFishFloating from C-F has kept his Lemon Tetras with adult Geophagus sp. "Araguaia Orange Heads" without issue I believe, although you may want to send him a PM asking about it - he may have lost some here and there.

Outside of breeding concerns, I will also be very surprised if you have any aggression issues with the Angels and Orange Heads. Geophagus are generally only aggressive towards species with very similiar body shapes (essentially conspecifics). I kept a single large Angel in my 140G with my Eartheaters for a few weeks while I was waiting for a buyer to pick her up, and had absolutely no issues and she seemed right at home.

Trust me when I say that your Angels will breed before your Eartheaters. Hopefully they'll be big enough and the tank will be large enough that there are no real issues. It's when the Orange Heads start spawning that I'd be a little concerned.

Looks Great, Now I am no expert on Angel aggression, but I would venture a guess that the DW will break up the sight lines therfore allowing you to have a much more peacefull tank, some short chasing here and there, but nothing long term, too much to get in the way! I would love to get my hands on your woo...

uhh you know....

Looks great! Great DW Love The Branch-ing effect!

Hi.. Thanks youall I really appreciate all the kind comments.

Japes... Thanks saw your other post, appreciate the kind words and replied there..
Nuthman and Talapia.. Thanks.. I'm hoping the dw will break up the area enough to avoid much in the way of fights.

I mainly put the angels in to visually fill up the tank until everyone grows a bit.. The baby geos and the then 14 lemons alone just didn't do the trick.. With 14 it looked too busy after I added the baby angels and the lemons were hoarding all the food from the angels.. so picture me trying to fish out the lemons in this tank.. Well I got 4 and then they got smart and hid in the dw..That was the end of that.. Now with the school of 10 everyone gets their fair share.. So It will probably end up down the line as a geo tank with lemons (yes I may at that point increase the school) and no angels but we will see how it looks at that point.. For now I'm lovin the combo. Thanks again Sue:D:D

Hi all... Just a quick up date..
I rehomed the big angel.. he wasn't bothering anyone but the baby angels were bugging him.. So now he can have a mate and pass on his wonderful genes:clap... I also removed the lemons as they made the tank too busy... Yes I had to remove the dw to get the fast little buggers out>> Gave me a chance to do a realy good clean.. I also just added two pairs of blue rams (after a qt) to the mix and everyone seems to be getting along.. They are feisty little buggers and actually challenge the big orangeheads (2 1/2 inches now) over bits of peas and shrimp pellets :ROFL:.. I rescaped a bit just adding a small sword.. pics of the entire tank to follow when everyone grows enough to actually be seen and recognized in a full tank shot.. For now here are some not so great pics of the big babies and the new guys.. So now it's 6 ohs, 6 baby angels and 4 rams.. So far no issues between anybody.. I am just learning about photobucket and not the best photgrapher to begin with so please bear with me.. Hope you enjoy..Sue:D

And believe me when I say I have not done anything to the amazing colors on the rams as I haven't figured out how to do any of that on the system yet:ROFL::ROFL:..

Looks great Sue! It's going to be a wonderful mix of colors when they grow up. We should have a competition to see who can grow Ed's baby orange heads the fastest...winner gets a fish from Ed....Ed? :D

Awesome little orangeheads.

I think the rams will be a nice contrast to the oh's, should look really neat when they grow out. Can't wait for the full tank shots when they've grown a bit more.

Sue~

Looks Sweet! Any aggression between the Angels/OHeads and the Rams? I have a group of 4 (Bolivan) Rams that I would like to add to my 75 with my 5 OHeads, what has been your experience there? (PS, I also have a Male Balzani who does not bother anyone or anything in there) I just have to switch out the Oheads from my 220 with the "Nieva" I have in the 75 (Nieva are mucho aggressive, (amongst themselves) figure in the 220, there will be so much room, it will spread that out).

Looks great! Sorry if I derail, but your success gives me ideas (Squirrel is running on Red Bull in the Ol' Crainum today)

Nuthman~
