Suggestions for an uncommon SA dwarf cichlid

Pelvicachromis species' sex ratios are often affected by pH. Depending on the water you raise them in, you may have a shortage of males or females. If I'm not mistaken, P. taeniatus would need a neutral pH of 7 to get a fairly balanced number of males and females. Some fish, like E. lucanusi, seem to spawn in softer water with a lower pH, so I haven't figured out yet what that means for their fry. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

I'm assuming HRP, if they're anything like convicts, will spawn in that water.

Do you think the krib's offspring would be very far off in gender balance with the pH being only a few points higher than 7.0?

I have one female who keeps the peace in my Heroina tank and one to calm down my Crenicara punctulatum, which can be very shy and jumpy. The big males fight a lot so I have two in my 210 (one gets beat to hell pretty regularly, even with no females present) and one in my 150 with a harem of females. He is a bulky fish with cool dorsal and anal fins. They mostly just argue amongst themselves and leave other fish alone unless they're sitting on eggs/fry.

If you were closer, I'd tell you to come pick up some of mine. I have 3 pairs from the 6 juvies I picked up a few years ago. They really are pretty cool fish - robust enough to hang with most mid level aggression fish, but not overly aggressive if given room.
 
I'd gladly rehome some of mine. I sold a breeding pair last year on Aquabid and now I'm stuck with eight -- three males and five females. They're nice fish but they're mostly just dithers at this point.

Another fry trade is in order. I really think you need to give Guinanacara a try if you have not yet, I can whip you up a batch of G. sp. "Rio caroni", which is G. stergiosi.
