i dont see why you cant keep a riv in there for about 2 years tank can be upgraded after right :D
i got 5 babies in 60liter yes 60liter and they are doing better in there then they were in the 300liter i got 400 comming tomorrow though :$ there about 3 weeks old i think

Another great choice would be a pair of keyhole cichlids don't see them much on this site and I have been considering some myself as well
 
I know it's way too small for a Green Terror but here's a video of my Green Terrors in an even smaller tank. Is this helpful?

To the OP, maybe some Gymnogeophagus? They'd do well in a tank that size.
 
Personally, I think you could keep a solo GT in a 60 gallon for life, with a few tetras for company. Too small for a pair but a specimen should be okay. I have only heard, or seen pictures of, of a handful that ever got to or above the 12" mark. With that said, I would personally go for a slightly smaller fish like Nicaraguense or Sajica.

Guys i just got 8 baby red oscars and chilli red oscars and they are kept in my quarantine tank and will be there for some months and will be moved to the two 300 gallon aquariums. 4 in each tank. Will post some pics once they settle down.
