I'm upgrading my 210 from a couple eheims to a 75g sump. The only thing I'm not sure about is how big my bulkheads should be. I'm thinking about two 1" bulkheads for the drain. Is this too much? Not big enough? I couldn't find anything online so I'm looking for everyones' input.

How big are your pumps--what output? What will be your turnover rate for the tank. How many drains do you want to have? Do you want them to be silent? Or do you not care that your tank sounds like a washing machine in your bedroom at night while you're trying to go to sleep?

I'll take a stab in the dark here, with pretty much no info. For a 210 Gallon tank, you'll want 2 Laguna Max-Flo 1350's. You'll want 4 1.5 inch drains, so you'll need to drill holes with a 2 3/8 holesaw kit like right here. http://glass-holes.com/2-3-8-Glass-Cutting-Holesaw-dhs238.htm Because I"m gonna guess you have a glass tank.

Tie the 2 siphon drains together with a 3 inch slice gate valve like right here https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-7301-Gate-Valve-Black/dp/B005OTLK9M

Because I assume you want the tank to run silent.

Check and be sure you don't have that tempered glass/starfire glass that can't be drilled before you put a glass cutter to it.

Sorry about that. I didn't realize that I needed to add that info. The tank is in the basement so I don't care about noise. My Dad already bought the pump. I don't think he wants to get another after how much it costed.

Maybe your dad could return the one he bought, and buy a cheaper Max-Flo? He might be impressed that you took the time to research it a little more and try to save him $90?

I think we've had it too long. It takes a lot to impress him. I'm sure that if I show him that there was something $90 cheaper it'll just piss him off.

You should aim for close to 10x turnover so around 2100 gph ....id go with a laguna max flo 2400 you will loose some goh due to head height.....

2...1.5 inch gravity drains will work....

Aaaah the sump research begins lol ragin has you covered !

If noise isnt an issue you can use hob overflows but they arent as safe as drilling the tank

I just looked and he already got the bulkheads... Don't know why he didn't tell me. He bought 4 1" bulkheads. Would 3 for the drain and 1 for the return work? I told him about needed a larger a pump and he immediately responded by yelling. I'll need a miracle to persuade him.
