ouch, might not be able to keep him in the 55...... we'll see

well if you can't then you can't .. but just trying to explain less stress getting him going the better... he will be fine.

cute little guy, nice pick up. Keep us posted on his progress.

First post questions about arowana in the arowana sub form. Less chance of getting bad advice, if there is bad advice it gets squashed.

Either the 55g or 29g will be fine. If you can, lower the water line to 7 or 8 inches below top of tank. Add some floating plastic plants for cover. Keep the temp up to 82 degrees and do enough of a waterchange to keep the nitrates around 10ppm and the pH stable. Keep without tankmates, if you feel the need for tankmates post question and get opinions, remember baby aros are very fragile.

Baby aros are very skittish, so you will need to feed food that floats for awhile. Also they need to be fed soft food while this small. Best foods are freeze dried blood worms, a quality flake food, and a soft freeze dried baby shrimp or krill.

Ask lots of questions

what will the growth rate for this guy be? i want to plan ahead so i dont get a 9" inch arro in my 55.

Im thinking 7 inches in the 55? then 18inches in a 2 ft wide tank?

On average, your silver will be 12" in 7 to 10 months. It could take a little longer or even be sooner then that. Be prepared that 12" is the max you'd want to be in a 55g and at that size silvers can have growth spurts of 2 or 2.5" per month.
