if i divide my 55, will it be ok? i have a 3inch oscar and 2 2inch jds in the 29 (were in the 55,but the 29 wasnt cycled, put 55 water and an established filter). I will divide a 12x12x18 box for him (or her) until the 29 in stable.

bump i need help still

dividing tank should be okay..just try to make it as least stressful as possible.. you know try not to make it go into a real project other wise baby will take days to get over it..how is the wee one today?

he/she is doing fine, laying on the substrate but still moving. My other fish are the ones im worried about,3 3 inch fish in a tank without heater= no no. but theyre getting a 50% warm water change daily so i think they will be ok for 2 more days.

you do not have a heater? why .. i hope they will be okay...all of them ..

If the arow is still hanging around the bottom, shut off all lights, try to keep the surface of the water calm, try not to disrupt the tank and keep him solo. Try to keep movement away from the front of the tank or cover it. (you can peek in him occasionally, use a flashlight, don't keep turning the aquarium light on and off). Do this for a day to 3 or until he is swimming at the surface. Also check pH, ammonia-- clean water is always the key.--A few floating plants will also comfort him.

P.S. good food for starters that small are live pin-head crickes, stay away from guppies (risk of intoducing a disease is there) and keep it feeding at the surface, then graduate to krill then pellets.

THIS IS NOT FINE FOR A SILVER AROWANA

You got a receipe for disaster going there, not only are the fish subjected to cool temperatures, but also to daily temp fluctuations. This is very stessful to the fish and a good way to get a case of Ich.

Why do you not have a heater? This is just stupid, you should've bought a heater instead of a baby silver. At some point you will put your fish ahead of your selfishness. Very sad sitsuation

i didn't buy a heater instead of aro because the other fish were in the 55 with a heater, and the store was closing that same day AND have you seen were im from? hah look it up. Youll be amazed. What does this have to do with the cichlids not having a heater?i live in the middle of a jungle... temps here are like 86-90 degs. The aro tank is in a concrete room with a steady temp. of 82F, the cichs are upstairs, where its almost steady at 84F. The cichlids are wild caught BY ME locally.

I think u should Get a Heater ASAP!!!! The WC wont cut it. A heater is 20$ Every where has them. Walmart/Petsmart. IMO I think u should lower the Water Level to 8" WITH A HEATER! Make it so there is almost No water flow. And buy enough Floating plants to cover 1/2 the Tank. And atleast Dim the room were he is if not black out the tank.
Were do u live?

If you read my previous posts, the aro tank has a heater. I live in central mexico, the closest pet store was closed. The nearest store is like give or take 100 kilometers and i am getting a heater in 2 days. Ive only seen the heater on once during the day since march (turns off when it gets past 82f)
