i didn't buy a heater instead of aro because the other fish were in the 55 with a heater, and the store was closing that same day AND have you seen were im from? hah look it up. Youll be amazed. What does this have to do with the cichlids not having a heater?i live in the middle of a jungle... temps here are like 86-90 degs. The aro tank is in a concrete room with a steady temp. of 82F, the cichs are upstairs, where its almost steady at 84F. The cichlids are wild caught BY ME locally.

:screwy:Sorry, I am only going off what you posted, lets breakdown your post below.

he/she is doing fine, laying on the substrate but still moving.

This is not normal behavior for a silver arowana, so I would doubt it is doing fine.

My other fish are the ones im worried about,3 3 inch fish in a tank without heater= no no.

Why are you worried about these fish if you live in a jungle that is 86-90 degrees?

but theyre getting a 50% warm water change daily so i think they will be ok for 2 more days.

you make it sound as if the cichlid tank is cold and you are heating it with warm water, temperature fluctuation is not good for fish.

If you did not have the tanks to properly maintain your fish, then you should have passed on the aro until you do.

Why would you even have a heater on a tank that is in a room that has a constant temp of 82 degrees? the tank can't get cooler then 82 degrees.

just forget about it,be better for all of use, aro's swimming by top now =)

i know why hes laying on the bottom, whenever i go in,hes always swimming at top, but when i go to watch him,he goes to bottom, just gonna stay out of room, and hope best for him.

REPEAT! shut off all lights, try to keep the surface of the water calm, try not to disrupt the tank and keep him solo. Try to keep movement away from the front of the tank or cover it.
please if you ask for advice, listen and use it.
we are here to help (atleast I am), if others seem to be bashing it is only because a lot of us have a passion and concern for fish

i am happy to hear he is doing okay.. does he still have the egg sack attached.? if he does thats good because it gives him time to relax and still get nourisment.. Remenber to get those frozen foods ready though because he will hopefully be wanting to eat soon..

Yes he has it,but its like the size of a pin head. I hope its gone by friday.
Ajb,is it ok if i turn off the filter?its disrupting the surface alot and i dont think a 2 inch aro thats not eating will release much ammonia into a 55 gallon tank.( of course i will do small wc (like 10%))
