hey,

so i couldn't find any other treads with this info located in it so am making one now.

I was just out in the shed tidying up a little bit and noticed the filter that was used to an old pool my sister had was still there. the pool got thrown out but the filter (supertrend wt-6006) and all hoses were still there. so i got to thinking. i'm in the process of upgrading to a 150+ gallon tank as soon as i find one.

Is it possible to somehow use this filter for an aquarium? .. it says for swimming pool use only on the filter but it made me curious as to how different it could possibly be? if the filter was extremely cleaned out so there was no clohrine in it etc and i was to add some media into the bigger open cylinder where the water has to pass through. is it possible to make this work for an aquarium? and if so can someone tell me exactly how to do it. if you need pictures to help explain how to do it let me know..

Thanks,
Mitch

what? .. i'm confused. the pool was thrown out years ago. filter just got left for some reason. so i'm wondering if i would be able to use this somehow as filtration for a bigger tank if i was to buy a bigger tank? like fill the first chamber with sponges then the second bigger one with media or something. or wondering if for some reason its not a good idea to use a pool filter on an aquarium.

and philly, i explained that in my other thread. we measued out my dads suv and the tank wont fit :(. i have no access to a truck and to get it shipped by ground will be just as expensive as the tank etc itself. my only option is the guy who is buying my 50 gallon might have access to a truck and might be able to get the other aquarium for me and i'll knock off like $200 of the price of my 50 gallon. but hes not back in town for another 3 weeks so it depends if the tank is still there. i was pretty upset when all this started not working. so i'm back to searching for an aquarium closer to me or hoping that is still there in 3 weeks.

sorry to hear that. good luck and remain diligent. your time will come.

o i thought you were talking about cleaning the filter. ya juat cleaning out the chamber shouldn't be hard, but i don't know about hooking it up.

The filter will work fine but is it one of those little filters for a kiddie pool, a sand filter, or a large cartridge filter?

yup. i was pretty unhappy when i heard the shipping rates. and if i get my 50 gallon etc sold before i get a new one i will have no aquarium but between $700-$1000 in my savings account just waiting to find a new set up. .. if this filter would work itd help alotttt. build my own stand .. use this filter with appropriate media etc ... all i would really need is the tank itself and lights.

like ii said i don't know but i figure it'll work why not is my answer
