richie - why exactly? What's ****ed up about it?

I love violence, I love seeing animals hunt and kill other animals, but I get attached to pets. I have done since I was a kid.

Don't see what's ****ed up about that at all. I'm 24 btw.

You had a go at someone who put a fish out of of it's misery, I would have done the same thing, pet or no pet. But it's ok to feed live fish to your fish? But because it changes category in your head from fish to pet, it's suddenly wrong.
Saying you love violence is also a bit scary.....:screwy:

I like to give a pet a fighting chance, if something is in my care I like to take care of it.

Feeder fish are no different to the salmon or tuna you buy at the supermarket, there is nothing wrong with a fish eating another fish. It's emulating nature.

Saying I love violence is scary? Only if you're a pussy. What can I say, maybe it's a character flaw but yes I have a thing for violence. More in the controlled form, I'm primarily a boxing fan and I've learnt to fight since the age of about 10.

Violence is a part of life, everyone experiences violence at some point, so you may as well be good at some of that old time ultra violence.

You were being a condescending prick saying I had a ****ed up attitude and insinuating I was young. No, quite simply I get attached to pets and I've gone absolutely out of my way in the past to make sure fish and other pets in my are oke.

I am not saying they have teeth. But they do have something sharp they can hurt you with.

Tankmates?

I got mine in a supermarket. They lived six in a 40g
until my 130g burst
Then the lungfish moved with them. Then one "died" .
In Argentina they say that garlic is a good tankmate, probably olive oil...

Shekes, I know man, you bought them in a supermarket, you don't see them as pets just a living room filler, they were sold as food - I know I know.

I'm just wondering if you've tried any tankmates other than other eels.

Guppy - they sounds pretty bad :D What do you think would be a suitable tankmate for this eel once he hits 2 or 3 foot?

You just make people in the UK look like complete cocks and from your other comments on the forum saying that the north of England gets better than the south then it hi-lights your grasp on the hobby.
Fighting chance? The eel was floating at the surface, any experience of this you would know that it's beyond help.
I don't want to get into a slagging match, I thought your comments were out of order and presumptuous.

If you don't want to get into a slagging match then why would you come at me with comments that were at least as presumptuous and out of order? Saying I had a f*cked up attitude and I'm probably very young?

My grasp on the hobby? It's better than yours, chump. I've been keeping preds since I was a kid, and I bet I've had better fish than you too :D

What makes your grasp so majestic?

Let's see, the south of England has wildwoods and wholesale tropicals. Both pretty good. The North has tom halvorsen and wharf aquatics, but the normal fish stores that the northerners posted looked better than the average shops I'm used to in the south.

I used to live in brighton and there is f*ck all there, I always had to travel miles to get a decent fish.

You're just a straight up prick richie, for a start I've had fish floating on the surface and swimming upside down on 1 bad shipping incident, my girlfriend said kill them, I said no I'm gonna give them a chance. They survived and are now absolutely fine. So I'm talking from experience, maybe you're just a worse fishkeeper than me and your fish die on you a lot.

Nothing I said was out of line, I just said why not give the fish a fighting chance? You're a straight up prick richie.

You've been keeping preds since you were a kd, which wasn't that long ago.
So if your grasp of the hobby is so good then why did I have to identify a cichla for you because you had taken the word of Maidenhead aquatics. I have a good memory.
Tom halvorsen and wharf aquatics are both overpriced and all the fish they get are also found elsewhere but I guess you already know that. Wharf also advertise fish incorrectly and I have questioned them about it and they admit to it! Ask anyone about Wharf in the UK and you will get the same opinion.
As for my fish is better than yours, that's not worth replying to.
Get back to your ulta violent(controlled) fishkeeping.

My fishkeeping is not controlled ultra violence, I like controlled violence aside from fishkeeping.

You had to identify a cichla for me? And? That was the first pbass I had, I've never been much of a cichlid man. I like channas, characins, polys and catfish.

You didn't answer my question, what makes you such a majestic fishkeeper, what makes you think your grasp on the hobby is better than mine other than identifying a juvenile cichla that may or may not have been a mono/ocellaris?

They are overpriced? So is wildwoods. Last time I went there they had a small auranti for 85 quid, juvenile monos for 50 or 60, small fahakas for 50 or 60, odoes for 50, acestros for 35, hydrolycus for 50 etc. Wholesale tropicals are reasonably priced but not great, no gars, not much in the way of polypterus, he could not order me an auranti, he could not order me any acestros or hydros or a dorado.

And like I said, the AVERAGE LFS in the north, from what I've seen of members here seems better than the south's average shop. What the f*ck are you getting so touchy for? You think I'm favouring the north? I've never even been up north, I'm a southerner through and through. But around the south coast for oddballs and predators it's absolute *****. The south has 2 good shops, and the odd good fish crops up in the odd maidenhead, that's it.

When I was a kid it was different, I could get snakeheads, gars, electric eels, electric catfish etc no problem. Now it's terrible.

When I was a kid was quite long ago yes, my first pred tank was 14 years ago, age 9 or 10. A shoal of RBP's and a longnose gar.

And Richie - if you have a personal problem/beef with me, I'd be interested to see how rude you'd be in person. Somehow I doubt you'd be rude to me at all. Don't be a keyboard warrior man, it's not cool.

Wholesales have Gars and had them aswell in the past, they have had all sorts of snakeheads and acestros . They have had all types of fish, fish that you thought not possible to get. They don't get things in on a whim, I have known these guys personally for 7 years or more and they got in pulchers for me when noone else had a clue how to get them.
As for quoting how many years you been keeping fish then 24, I don't see how that matters.
Touchy? You are calling me a prick! As for being bothered by me in the flesh, just remember there is always someone bigger than you are so stop trying to act all hard with your ultra(controlled) violence/fishkeeping.
I don't care whether you favour the north or south, but the reality is the north doesn't get it stuff any different to the south. Wildwoods is as you correctly stated very overpriced, but you can get bargins if you look closely. But you don't care about that, you just want to call people pricks and offer them out with Ultra(controlled) violence.

Not at all Richie, I just think you are rude. It was very rude of you to come here, offer no information about a marbled swamp eel and simply say I was ****ed up and probably very young.

The north probably doesn't get anything the south doesn't no, but there are only 2 good shops in the south. Like i've said many times, most of the shops round the south coast have a terrible selection of predators.

I don't think I'm hard Richie, I'm a fighter - there's a difference. I am more of an intellectual than a thug, and I work in the art world.

However, I happen to love fighting. I don't go around starting trouble but if someone troubles me or tries to intimidate me, I have no qualms about resorting to violence.

I see fighting as more of a science Richie, I'm not a bar brawler or football hooligan. It's good to be able to end a fight with 1 punch, so I don't have to worry about getting hurt. Im the opposite of a bouncer. I hate bouncers.

Are you bigger than me? I don't really care, I'm not big - I'm 5 foot 10, I've fought at lightweight (135 lbs). I now weigh around 11 stone.

Don't get me wrong Richie, I am not a thug, I am more a lover of wildlife and the arts and good food. But the thing is I really don't like people being rude to me, ESPECIALLY online.

Why not just get me to elaborate on my attitude towards the subject at hand rather than insulting it, and insulting me?

If you were rude to me in person I would not hesitate to land a right cross in the middle of your thoat and watch you gurgle your own blood and struggle to beathe.

If you disagree with me, that's fine, just be more respectful.

I've never seen acestros there or hydrolycus or hydrocynus, and terry told me they have never got an auranti in. They have tried but never been delivered he said. They usually have micros, bleheri and gachuas.
