Figured I'd add another quick video showing how un-shy they are. Every time I sit down to watch them they come right out front to check me out (prolly wanting food!) Also added another peice of driftwood floating up top for some overhead cover for them.

Lost my first Piranha due to cannibalism last night. I purposely don't feed them 2 days a week, usually sunday and wednsday, and last night I paid for it as they took out the smallest piranha in the group :/ Not that I didn't expect it because honestly I expected to have lost more to cannibalism by now than just the one. I was going to post another feeding video but these damn powerheads keep falling off the wall and stirring up the sand like a nice pot of soup so the tank is cloudy again. Which reminds me, time to send a complaint to marineland on their **** "pro" powerheads. They used to be great I used them in my reef tank with the sure flo mods but now..... never again.
 
For what reason are you with holding food?

Yikes sorry to hear man, at that size id always keep a piece of talapia or shrimp tied to fishing line and hang in water, for my rhom growout I have my autofeeder filled with NLS, Bw and 01 flake 3x per day at 8 hour intervals.

Atleast with an auto feeder you know they have adequate supply.

And that marineland ph leaked stray volts into my tank, take it back get an aqueon or better yet hydor.

I'm fasting them 2 days a week for the simple reason (and probably stupid one) of making the most natural environment I possibly can and one variable they face in the wild is the fact that they don't get to eat at the all you can eat buffet every day :) They are getting Very aggressive at feeding times which I attribute to them not being fed every day as well. I started tying the market shrimp to the end of the powerhead so that its flying all over the place and watching them all try to "hunt" it down is pretty cool. . I don't know I may go back to feeding every day but even on this schedule I've only lost one and the one I did lose was the runt for sure, he was under half the size of even the small ones in the shoal. It's all trial and error at this point I'm just trying to have a natural acting, healthy and non skittish shoal of piranhas in the end :)
 
As for the powerhead it does a good job, I don't have the noise issues other people have talked about, I don't have the cover flying off (not sure how that even happens to people TBH) I don't have stray voltage, it's just the attachment hardware they include sucks about as bad as it can get. I should have spent the extra money and bought the old school versions and got the sure flow mods. I'm not a fan of the Hydor koralias at all or I would have went with them for sure. Guess I'm going to have to spend some cash on the magnet holders for them :(
