I have refunded you a number of hours ago. I will be reimbursed on the shipping that is correct. The fish however are not insurable unfortunately. I put an insured value in the case they feel generous but Jeff Rapps himself has never gotten reimbursed the value of the fish in 25 years of business. They simply aren't covered. If they get covered, someone got lucky.
UPS got over on us for this one. Unfortunately.

I was told many years ago by UPS head office here in Canada, when shipping an antique item worth 5K to the US that their insurance only covered the cost of the shipping, not the item itself. From what I can recall, I don't believe that any of the major courier companies cover the value or replacement of live animals. The ironic part is that many of these companies, including Canada Post, and probably the USPS, will allow customers to purchase insurance, they simply refuse the claim if one is ever presented. It's a complete scam.

Sounds like the seller is a stand up guy based on his response and actions. Sucks for everyone but stuff like this happens. I wouldn’t hesistate to place an order based what I’ve read here. Good luck with the new business!

side note**** if anyone is putting together an Alberta order please let me know....shipping is so expensive to Canada but a group order splitting shipping cost would be great!!!
 
As am I. I was just looking over the current stock list for some new projects and had no idea it had changed hands.
