tank almost crashed.. please advices!!

Hello; You lost me again. You use well water. Most well water does not have treatment chemicals such as chlorine or chloramine in the water.

I had a well at one home years ago. I used the water straight from the well into my tanks with no treatment. I also drank the well water. I know there are folks who use the Prime in well water but if the well water is good water I do not see why. If you have bad well water then I doubt the Prime will fix it.

I am now on "city" water with chlorine only. I have to store my tank water for days in containers or use Prime. I would like to have a good well again.

Well water in indonesia is not safe to drink. I live in riau province where clean water is even an issue. I dont know any professionals who can test my well water. Eventho there is no cholrine in my tap water, but it contains some ammonia, so prime does have a use in my case, i suppose?.
Different story with water in the usa. I used to live in colorado for 5 years, wherr the tap water is fine for drinking.

Years ago, i used well water directly to the tank for water change and my fishes kept dying one by one. So i gave up with fish keeping.

About 7months ago, my 3 years son asked for a small tank, and he got it. This basically what drives me to where i am now. His oscars are still alive after i understand fish keeping is all about taking care of good water, the fish will follows.

Most people here still treat their water by leaving it for 24hours eventho they use well water.. and have it circulated or the least, they put some airstones in the treatment container. so there must be something that they are trying to treat prior water change.. so if I understand it correctly, the well water isnt safe lol.. im a lazy guy so i use seachem prime instead

Hello; Sorry to hear this about your water.

Hello; Yes this is true. I am at a loss.

Hello; As in other places around the world water in the USA can be and is bad in places. Likely more places than some will admit. The USA has bad water also.

fish keeping is all about taking care of good water, the fish will follows.
Hello; Yes this is true.

Hello; At this moment I am at a loss about what to suggest. I will think about this but right now do not have any positive suggestions. My apologies if my posts did not make sense to you. Good luck
.

Hello; A brief personal story. The home with the well I spoke of earlier was found to have bad water. I lived in coal mining country. There was a place about a mile from my home that dumped chemicals used in industry onto the ground. this was back in the 1970's. Many wells were contaminated. A pipeline had to be run out to my area for all the houses from the nearest city water source.
The government set up a very expensive treatment plant. Over many years they have been pumping the contaminated water out of the ground in the area and spraying it high into the air. I think the theory being the chemicals will dissipate into the air.
So I lost my well and missed it until I moved back in 2010.

finally I my prime and stability arrived.

so before I did my WC,

ph 6.8
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 100

so all went well. couldn't be happier than this after 4 days of hustling.

after 30% WC
ph 6.4
ammonia still 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 60-80

going to feed those starving monsters tomorrow.

Can't remember if this was mentioned here on in a prior thread you posted but did you ever try the pothos vines/bog plants in a container in the water or your filter? Should help absorb some nitrates. Also glad you got that prime/stability in! Glad the nitrates are getting a little better too!

Did try duckweed, will never try it again..
Putting plants in the filter is not optional since im using canisters.. i like bare bottom coz it is easy to maintain.. i gotta deal with nitrate by keeping up with my wc i guess.

Duckweed is a nightmare because it is so tiny. The pothos plants are actually houseplants... might be a nice option. People don't plant them in substrate. Do a little search on here and you'll see what she means.

by the way, is it a good idea to get more fishes in to the tank?.. just wondering tho.
I'm thinking of peacock bass, or red pike atabapo.

the latest update
ph 7.2
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 80
