as u can see in the picture. my heater was set up straight on the lefthand side of the tank. wen the heater blew up the glass launched to the other side of bed.
you should get a really big tank out of this that could have killed someone make them pay up

I got a cold feet from reading so many story like this..
i put my heater at the bottom side of my tank, if it explod i can't imagine.
but my heater rarely on power, cos i'm at tropic climate.

something i learn from this thread, i think using a more (or even most) expensive heater, will make it very worth!! since the majority of our fish is monster, or rare and also got a high price tag.
Do you even need a heater over there? I'm in Hawaii and I don't use any heaters with my 3 tanks.

I do have a Stealth from when I first started out but found that it is really not needed here. So glad I haven't used it a whole lot and it will go out in the trash tomorrow.

I'm having a tough time with this.
How does a heater fail and cause this kind of damage ?

I'm going with Pyramid_Party on this.

From what I see in that picture I see a clear wedge formation that starts with horizontal lines both under and above the suction cups. What I see is a push caused by the heater and as it tries to go someplace but is held tight by good suction cups(why do my suction cups not hold like that) and then as glass usually breaks it goes from a straight horizontal to a diagonal on both the bottom and top, meeting at the fissure point mid side.

Since the break starts in the corner of the tank it won't back track on itself, but it will look for the weakest point in the pane and become a pain.

I also do not see a tank that looks neglected but rather well cared for. I also see a light on the tank that does not look cheap, nor do the fish in the tank seem bad.

I go with the heater causing glass fail. Would be interesting to see what kind of force would be exerted by a heater popping like this.

I am glad that I run all my tanks without heaters for the most part. Every stealth heater I did buy totally quit working. I also got a very good shock from one of the tanks SO MUCH FOR WATERPROOF

I agree, nothing good ever comes from going on the offensive.

Bet Douglas MacArthur would disagree with that, or Winston Churchill ;)

Rena heaters FTW!! you could take a hammer to these things and they are not breaking...seriously...
300w $29 no fish is doing squat to this heater... you can hook up your intake tube from the canister to it too..
one guy is running one on his 150 and thats it.... it's on my 75 right now and is great.. i have the xp3 hooked
up to it also... best heater i have seen yet.. sorry for your loss on the tank!
