Dude get a smaller tank and some cool smaller fish you like. I wouldn't leave the hobby over this. Actually you can do natives that don't even need a heater. Whatever you decide good luck and it sucks that this happened.

STURGEON!!!!! :eek::D:eek::D:eek::D;)

Did you see that heater in the pics tho? It obviously exploded. And yes, corners are almost always the strongest points. Don't lie about anything, don't move anything. Report everything as you know it and you should be properly reimbursed. I would send them a link to this thread too, so they can see it's honest, and that others are having problems with their products and if they don't do right by the customers, their business will suffer. This site carries a lot of weight with fish hobbyists with thousands reading daily. Not properly taking care of business on their behalf, will only hurt them.

Don't let this get you out of the hobby or discourage you in any way. Come back bigger and better.

so you are telling me that if a heater exploded there would be no damage where it was located?
also, how does a heater explode?
If we are talking about an explosion, there would be an internal energy issue that would probably cause the whole heater to break out.
I have seen a heater out of water before and seen the crack in the glass of the heater. Looks very familiar to what I have seen with a heater out of water.

But hey, I am not seeing this in person, just what I see in the pics and how I see them. Since no one was there at the time, hard to say what really happened. Either way, i say try to get some money or something out of them.

MINE BROKE THE SAME WAY!! IN A 20 GAL NO LESS! the whole tank super heated, then the tank broke when the heater litterally exploded in the tank!! there was crap every where in the tank, tank spidered, fish died. it was a massacre! i was soo mad! comes with the hobby, so i pressed on tho. :nilly:

I don't think i have any pictures left, but the heater literally split down the middle and all the internals burst out like an over stuffed sausage... (best description i can think of) :irked:

I completely believe this story because of my experience. However, larger tank, thicker glass, larger heater... different variables but same out come. I do know that i went to petsmart that same day, and the person in the fish dept said that i was the 20th person that had happened to.

Marineland has, still, not contacted me back over the same situation. 2 months later! :irked:

The only witness was her little brother. How do we know he didn't hit the tank and caused it to crack? The pressure of the water caused the tank to bust and probably the reason the glass is on the bed. And the heater cracked because it was out of water. The area is intact where the heater was.

True, however, as stated before the corners are the strongest points of a tank. If the heater started a crack it could have spidered one it reached the middle since this is the weakest point of the glass walls.
