100 gallon glass tank by Odyssea, 10 months old: the rounded "edge" seen here split. I wear earplugs so I can sleep during the day for 3rd shift. My wife dragged me out of bed, her gestures a pantomime of terror and urgency. I put a garbage can by the side of the tank and applied duct tape and started a siphon and rescued the fish. Maybe 1/3 of the water hit the floor. (Putting a bag on the inside over the crack is much better thinking.)

Perhaps I've had worse nightmares. I can't remember them.

Do acrylic tanks have these issues? If not, why does anyone use glass?

I very recently had 1 massive mistake with my fishtank. It was not buying a good filter but the all-in-1 hood for my 29. The filter tube was too long but I never noticed until my brother nudged the tank and the filter started spewing water out. whats worse was that I was away and he simply put the fish in a bucket to keep them alive. I came home to only 1 jewel cichlid still alive. I plan on completely renovating the tank once our home renovation is finished. I should have noticed this earlier given that the lightbulbs failed after a month and my filter clogged.

All these stories make me nervous O_O

I can't remember if I used hot water or not in the 2 1/2 gallon glass betta tank I recently bought. I hope that won't make it crack ...
