Tank for Frank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do have problems with some of the plants,i do not expect these 2 plants to make it.
The light colored one, is eaten by all my fish. I grow it in an Otocat only chamber of the 55 gallon refugium under the 125.

Sorry I do not know the right names for my plants.

I've been cleaning all the other tank filters I the big tank, adding 60 ml of ammonia a day and I still have no nitrites or nitrates. And the ammonia is gone as well the next day. I think the plants are using the ammonia up. I did not think I planted it with that many plants, and I have not added co2 to this set up. I do not have as much lighting as I think the plants need to really thrive, but they are looking surprisingly good. I see new growth on most of them.

Well I did a lot of research and I think i will to try the silent cycle.

Time to let the inmates out. Let's See how a few of them do. I rescued These 20 days ago from Craig's list, quarantine is over. I will pull the females back into the species tank to lower aggression before I put Frank in the tank.

Today is a sad day for me. not as bad as previous years, but still hard. the sun is bright outside, but my world is cloudy and grey. So to try and make it better, I'm heading to Aquatouch fish store in cave creek near my Bro's grave and i'm going to spend 13 or 130 dollars on some new low tech plants for the 570 tank.

I ended up not making it up north. Or buying any plants. Instead I stopped by aquarium arts in Mesa and bought another Bala for the 570g to replace one that jumped out six months ago and 2 beautiful Ram horns to go in the 55.

Ammonia is all gone again today. No trace of nitrite or nitrate. So the plants are still using it all up. Time to move the the pleco Lazy and his piece of wood. I can't remember when I got him, but it was when I was not as informed. I was told that he would eat algae, ya right. That's how he got his name. Luckily I already had the piece of wood. I'm confident lazy can hold his own against the convicts, he's been dealing with them his whole life, chasing them off his spot.

I am expecting new LED lights tomorrow. That should almost be enough lights for to plants. I'm having my electrical engineer friend, build some Different LED's with dimming to replace to fluorescents , I hope to have these start up first in the morning like a sunrise and be the last set to turn off at night like a sunset.

So here are some pictures of the final set up. Only thing left is the auto drain and fill. That is going to wait till I get back from Family reunion back in upstate NY.

Awesome setup. Frank looks like he has plenty of room to stretch his fins. Nice work!

Thanks. Frank appears to love it. The only problem we are having is the end of the tank. He keeps hitting it hard!
I have planted some tall plants to show him the end of the tank, and I put a power cord on the outside to help him recognize the end of his tank. He can literally move from one side to the other in less than a second. Almost wish I could have got something bigger for him and made it a circle.

The bearded cat fish has help too, he likes to hang out upside down it that top left corner.
