A select few knew that my 200 gallon sprung a leak about a month ago. The seam split at the bottom back (worst place of course) after 2 plus years of service. Well since I had to take everything down I decided to redo everything. I took the sump out and went with 2 canisters. They are fed from a spin down filter which spins the water and allows debris to settle in the bottom where you can then drain it out. It has a 100 mesh (152 micron) filter in it but I may have to get a more course one in the long run. This keeps sand out of the filters. I have a drip set up that is doing about 80 gallons a day right now. I then took the tile out and went with pool filter sand. Not wanting a lot of sand I decided to try something new. I put about a 1/8" layer of fiber glass resin in the bottom of tank and coated with sand. After a week and a half of curing I put about 1/2" of sand on top of it. The end result is a sand bottom that the rays can't clear away. You can see in the two marble pics at the side, the sand is swept away but the bottom is not bare. Plan to add the female flower and the male mantilla back and just leave the 4 in there. Enough about the tank, here are the pics.

nice

like that marble in there too! you are hoarding all the good marbles!

and Ashley wants me to get a flower pair now since she seen yours lol.

Looks real nice for sure ....

Tank looks nice and the drip system of 80g per day should be great. Do you still have the flowers?

tank looks great! how rough is the bottom where all the sand is pushed away? and wow that was a good idea. i thought you were crazy to be adding sand in there after a fresh reseal lol.

Thanks for the comments, I actually got the sand resin idea from a discus keeper my brother talks to. He did his to the extreme and just mixed resin and sand so his tank has a hard bottom. The only reason I did not like substrate with rays is because they dig away at it and leave bare spots on the bottom. The sand is not rough at all when top layer is cleared away. I kept the resin just off the edges, it does not stick to acrylic very well at all so I figured one day if I do not want sand anymore I could possibly peel it up. The rays seem to like it, woke of this morning to dents all over the place where they where blowing in it.

Yes I still have the flowers, they are still in their home away from home. Did not want to load the tank up and have to take everything back if I had a melt down.
