TANK MATE FOR MY OSCARS

:) I have 2 oscar community tanks, and have had good luck for the past 2 years. my 55 gal. has 1 12 inch red oscar (have older pics in my gallery), one 8 inch banded severum, 1 albino clawed frog, 1 5 inch tinfoil barb, 1 13 inch common plec., 1 12 inch black asian upsidedown cat. And in my 45 gal Hex I have 1 10 inch oscar, 4 parrot cichlids (2 8 inch, 2 4 inch), 1 10 inch ghost knife, and 1 8 inch common plec.
I got the big oscar from a friend so he was already large, about a year later I got the red albino oscar as a baby (about 5 inches) and the 2 got along ok, until the albino reached about 8 inches :WHOA: then I had to seperate them. The little guy beat the crap out of the big one. :cry:

So far my tanks have faired well. and I wish you luck in choosing buddies for your oscar.
 
Right know I have 6 oscars 2 are albinos about 2 in. and 4 tigers about 3 in. 2 Pacus about 3.5 in. and 2 sun cats about 4in. (allways hiding) They are all doing really good together untill I get my bigger tank off layaway
 
Clown Loaches-about 6 would get to about 10 inches in that tank after a while.
About 6 Bala sharks, same thing.
A nice Royal Pleco is always nice.
A jAck would work, and they really can look beautiful.
You can also get away with an "oddball" type fish like a ghost knife eyc.
 
Jack dempseys are fine, don't get pacus or arowanas because your tank is still too small for those. I think most cichlids besides doviis, umbes, black nastys and a few other really aggro species (flowerhorns maybe.), would be fine.

severums, blood parrots, SNOOKS, green terrors, firemouths, convicts (not breeding convicts though just get one), jack dempseys, nicaraguense, blue acaras, the list goes on and on. Some more aggro species that woudl still prolly work in your tank (since its big enough) are texas, jaguar, motaguense, midas (maybe), and possibly a salvini (they are in the middle for me pretty territorial, but not too aggro...yet).

Some non cichlids would be silver dollars, giant danios, barbs, maybe a knife or bichir (depending on which size).

Pictus catfish (spotted or the four line pimellodella are the most common ones) would be your best bet. And Plecos...well there are a lot of different types to choose from. Just make sure that you have enough filtration for the fish you get.

most have been said before, but, i would go with (not all) bichirs, pictus or 4-lined, pleco(s) (mostly bottom dwellers). that is, if youre going to stay w/ the 150.
 
I have 2 oscars with 2 GTS, 1 RT, 1 Midas, 1 firemouth and they are doing good. I am know if they can coexist in the long run. Oscars are twice as big as other fish.

I also like the severum idea posted earlier, they are beautiful when they get big.
 
the best match for me in my 37 years of keeping oscars is severums and clown loaches and an uaru the oscar has to be the biggest to be happy.
