tank mates

I know you were probably serious, fishhead0103666@, but I bursted out laughing at that comment. xD

Anyhoo, as for the bichir, there are plenty of species that are monsters that would be appropriate for a pond (but not with an RTC). You could do Ornates or Congos. The Striped Raphael would be perfectly fine, I have a striped raph, which is a total tank. I would totally consider putting it with a bichir.
A Rafael should NOT go with ornates or congos, most likely the large polys will die when the Rafael gets stuck in its throat

if it grows bigger than 8 inches, i plan on adding it with my rtc and pacu. i know the rtc will get huge but it will only be temporary since i am planning to build another pond, only if the bichir gets big enough
Dude, I promise your sen will not get more than 11” and that’s pushing it unless it’s a wild caught, which I seriously doubt. Pacu s and RTCs get way to big to even consider putting a Senegal with

I didn't mean the Raphael go with those breeds with a dramatic size difference. I was thinking more on the line smaller bichir, larger cat. I would never put them together long term though.

The striped Raphael and bichir are already included. How about a BGK

You could do a black ghost knife, short term. They grow slowly (I have one now, which has only grown slightly from when I got it). However, the BGK has to be big from the get-go, otherwise, you got yourself an odd snack (literally).

I have a BGK with Raphael and go go tetras but they are in 4x2x2 and even then that will not be a final home for the knife. This is the smallest I would want to put my 7 Congo tetras in as they can be active. Your knife problem then becomes where to put it when it exceeds 12” and heads towards 18”. Because by then it will be too big for your tank and it will always be too small for your pond. Do you think that by then you will have a 6x2x2?

ok. but many people told me they are "perfect tankmates for RTCS"

I was going to comment but it has already been answered. But it was really funny reading the response... IF you have a RTC you need mates that will grow as big as 20-25 inches (in captivity RTC can get at least 36 inches).. if not everything will be subject to becoming food no matter how big of tank of pond you have them... if it will fit in their mouth they eat it. Just friendly advice.

How many buyers do think in your area will have a tank big enough?
A friend of mine runs an exibit at a zoo with a 10,000 gal Amazon tank, he says at least once per week he has people wanting to "give him" RTCs that they no longer have the ability to take care of, and he can't accept any of them.
A 6 ft tank is a mere puddle for an RTC, and tying to keep them in it is at best, cruel and unusual punishment
