Tank prepped and ready for TATF (in transit)

The first time I fed my guy, he ate with the lights on. After he got settled in, he wouldn't though. Hopefully yours doesn't do that too!

I'm looking forward to reading about your adventures trying to break him. I've tried every trick I know short of starvation to break mine and I've had no luck. What I mean by skittish is that he seems to be afraid of the food when I go "fishing" with cut trout. It spooks him when I jig it and when it's just blowing around in front of a powerhead it doesn't seem to trigger his feeding instinct. Young fish are always funny lol

I've had good luck with the rest of my predators using Hikari Jumbo Carnisticks. You might have luck with that too. They float and my gatf and the vatf I used to have both seemed to really appreciate the natural, soft texture of the pellets.

Where did you get the TATF from. I am looking for one myself. I have a 450 gallon set up and waiting.

Rampage and I got ours from Fugupuff. He had them correctly labeled. TATF seem to have come in quite a bit recently but mislabeled. There were some vendors selling them on here as H. goliath not too long ago.

With ATF most of the time you'll find fish labeled as goliath or vittatus regardless of what they really are. If you really care about the species you're getting, always be sure you have the fish positively identified before you buy!

Yup, fugupuff is his username here on MFK. He's got a thread in the Marketplace section with a stocklist. I'd suggest emailing him if you're seriously interested and going from there. I highly recommend Wes, my fish got here healthy and was packaged very well.

Does your guy show any blue on the fins yet? It's not too obvious in the videos, but then again digital media is known for not capturing colors well. :/

I was just watching him for a good while earlier, and I didn't notice any blue on his fins except for the adipose fin - that one is a dark navy blue. Hard to tell though with my background color being the way it is, it may be affecting the way his color is showing at this size. I do definitely notice a greenish/blue sheen to him (iridescent), and he's starting to show horizontal striping as well. Hopefully the color will come in soon once he's fully comfortable in there.

Cool. As my guy settled down, I've noticed that his caudal fin is actually turning green on the inside with a blue posterior edge (that closely matches the color of the adipose fin). The paired, dorsal and anal fins are all too thin to show color well and are largely clear. Sometimes I see a bluish sheen to them, but for the most part they're clear. For his body color, I would call it a kind of a light blue green color. He has a very strong iridescent green sheen when the light hits him just right. He has very strong, vittatus like stripes but they're more of a very dark grey than solid black as in VATF.

Quick cell phone video of him tagging a guppy. Still eating in front of me without an issue. Now he's been looking at the top of the water when I've been feeding flakes to the mollies/tetras. I bought Hikari Food Sticks last night, going to try to get him to take some off the top tomorrow.

OUTSTANDING!

Yours is so much more confident than mine. Then again, I have mine in a bare bones growout with no dithers. I think I may have to try the dithers and maybe put some plants in my tank. Excellent. :)

:D Thanks, man. I appreciate that a lot. I do think the dithers help, as does the natural look. He never really hides in the plants but I do think the fact that its there for him if he needs it helps. Who knows for sure, but in my experience it does help confidence in skittish fish.

He looks very healthy. Already looks bigger and fatter. Can't wait for more updates.
