Keeping a potentially large fish in a small tank whilst relying on the fact someone may buy you a larger tank later is just stupidity IMO:screwy:

I agree... :screwy:

if you can't keep the fish long term, what's the point of buying it? IMO a pair of festae needs 125 at the minimum, and I would strongly suggest a divder

if you have a 10g tank, and a 2" fish, you do have room for them.
and i know may people who have gotten tanks as gifts.

what happens if you never get the money for an upgrade? Or you never get a tank as a gift? Then you have a 12 inch fish in a tiny tank, thanks to some genius planning.

$110 is pretty steep but think about how much the tank cost you and how long you will have these fish for. On another note, you can probably get them cheaper than that. Wild or not that's too much money for those 2 fish. Try another big name supplier other than Rapps. I know all the guys down in Florida are cleaning out their ponds right now. Try Ken Davis @ fishfarm in Georgia.

Hey Camph

Irrespective of the inquiry origin or situation, and not to mention that I don't visit many threads on any particular site, there is one common thread I have encountered in your posts.
I hate to run the risk of changing the topic of this thread, but no matter, you've already tried to accomplish that. Unless I've missed something here, the price of the fish + shipping was not the subject of this thread.
Was there a question mark after that statement in the post?
No, I'm not defending the price of a fish and/or cost of shipping (did you happen to note the to and from addresses of this transaction before posting your no cents?)
I have not mislead or misinformed the customer in question. I am not making this post to further discuss the sized tank a pair of festae require to thrive.
I am simply here because of the repeated references you post in attempt to point cichlid hobbyists away from making purchases from my business. It's not constructive. It's annoying. It's unrelated to the topic - again.
Save all of us the drama and please email me directly.
Jeff

Jeff, not to be offensive but I think you charge too much for your fish. From what I know you get your fish from most of the same people everybody else is getting them from and you charge more than all of them. I can get (most) fish from the same stock you get yours from locally without paying for shipping. People always just come to you because you're the biggest supplier for new worlds. I understand you've worked hard at becoming the best in the biz but I still think you charge too much for your fish in comparison to others. I have never personally done business with you, but I do check your stocklist often. It's not that I'm trying to keep people from buying from you, I'm just letting them know there are others out there and when they're spending $120 on two fish it might be a good idea to shop around first.

sorry to the OP for derailing. Jeff if you want to talk to me privately, send me a PM.

even with the disclaimer, you still missed the poin. sad.

FYI- i did not miss your point, i just added that 2 bit of sence being that your example made little sence. I don't mind you adding your opinion into this thread.

Done here.

they seem to grow real slow a 75/90 should work for a while. Ive had a single female in a 50 fo a couple months and she got a ways to go before that tank is too small

if im not correct correct me but i do believe one tank would be more financially efficient than 2. if you cant afford the right size tank now wait till you can. if you buy a smaller tank then youre out that money and have to get another one eventually. i just think it would e easier on your pocketbooks to get a bigger tank for those fish. they will; however, fit in a 75/90 for a while.
