. they may recieve a larger tanks as a gift in the near future
. lack of space for a larger tank
. plan to rehome or trade out the fish when it gets too large for the current home.
there is no need to have a 300g tank for 1 fry measuring at .5". just because you have a 6' tank with one 4" fish in it, doesnt mean everyone needs to. people upgrade tanks all the time based on many factors.
and yes, im aware it CAN get over 10" in 2 years (possible but not likely at a average growth rate of .25-.5"/mo). you sould read between the lines.
