Tank Size

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Two aro's is a big no no. The dominant fish will beat the snot out of the less dominant fish. Three is a much better idea as the dominant fish wont be able to focus it's aggression on just one fish (as stated above). I would say just get the HUGE tank that they will need right from the begining, trust me it's just easier this way...

Realize that with in 18 to 24 months the silver arowana will be 24" long. I have 2 26" in a 180g this is too small. I would recommend going with at least a 240g 8'x2'x2' for the first few years eventually you will need to upgrade to a larger tank. The tank you upgrade to will be based on your personal opinion and financial situation once your aros become monster.

Multiple aros is a gamble. You have about a 33% chance of two working out and 75% with three. Odds increase with more arowana but so does tank size.

better to just get alteast a 300 gallon to start with. As they always say, if you cant afford it now, what makes you think you'll be able to afford it later.

What you can affor but minimum 6 to 7 foot long depending on if you can house it and 2.5 foot width or 3.
standard tanks tend to come in the 240 gal 7foot by 2.5 width and just over 2 foot tall.
It's usually the lenght that drops first, the next would be 60 inches long with the same width and hight.
For silvers IMHO just buy one and give it all your attention, they grow big, and they'll eat big. Big tanks cost more than you'd think to run aswell.
You can put other fish in.

Ive always wondered out of the numerous people who own full grown silvers, how many of them actually hold them in these huge "recommended" tanks? :)

You mean you wonder how many of the thousands sold die a horrible premature stunted death?
