Putting small fish in a huge tank is much better than putting small fish in a big tank and then letting it grow and eventually watching it being cramped inside because you can't afford to buy a bigger tank ATM. This is what most people do. Thats why we recommend getting the full size tank first. Most people say they'll upgrade, but they dont take into account how fast these things grow. In the end, they can't afford a bigger tank so early and the fish gets cramped up.

Why not just educate and let them make their own decision. Who are you to judge anyone?

When did i judge anyone? Its a well known fact. Most guys who say they'll upgrade, just dont upgrade. Let people make their own decisions? So you really dont care if fish get cramped up? So why do we have programs and societies that prevent cats, dogs, and even kids from being treated badly? cats, dogs, and people are all living things, so whats the difference? Going by your logic, why the hell should we care if someone cramps their kid inside a closet? Why are their animal shelters that take away dogs or cats from owners who cannot take care of them properly? We might as well just everyone do whatever they please and let all those animals and people die.

Man overboard!!!

Where are you going? So with your logic we should just tell everyone not to have kids, cats or dogs. You would do this instead of trying to educate on proper care and living ararngements.

People are gonna do what they want anyhow, so why not educate instead of discourage?

better to just get alteast a 300 gallon to start with. As they always say, if you cant afford it now, what makes you think you'll be able to afford it later.

This is you judging people, how in the world do you know anything about anyone's financial situation or future for that matter?

Another example of you passing judgment below

Lol, its a shame, but its true. Most here know the proper size needed to care for one, yet they dont have one but keep one anyways.

Again how do you know this, how is it that you can state this is the reason. Your high and mighty BS is getting stale.

I never said dont have kids or dont have cats or dogs. Just dont keep them if you cant keep them properly. I did educate, many people in fact. "better to start off with the 180 first so you dont have to worry about upgrading anytime soon" has been said a million times. What happens after that? they go get an arowana, for a 55 gallon. Then what happens? They start complaining that their arowana has gill curl. Why? Becuase their damn tank is so small, their aro cant turn around. I did always start with educating, but what happens afterwards? Nobody listens. So why not just discourage so they dont get one period.

This one is no personal judegement. This is a damn well known fact. Even you know this. I kno you've also seen tons of threads showing off aros or other fish that are cramped into tanks that are way too small for it. Just yesterday there was one where 2 stingrays were kept in a 55 gallon tank. This happens almost everyday. You know damn well this happens almost everyday. You also know damn well this one isnt a personal judgement. Tons of threads talking about people who keep oversized fish in undersized tanks.

Tell ya what, I'll keep trying to educate and you keep up the discouragment and we'll both believe we are doing the right thing
