in general bichirs are quite peaceful tank mates. if you follow the rule that nothing too small to be considered as food then you''l be pretty safe.

yea I just underestimated how thin bodied those fish were I think. They ignore my ctenopoma and those are much shorter than the elephant nose. O well an unfortunate lesson learned I suppose.

My biggest Senegal chomped my Black ghost knife 3 times....The 3rd was almost fatal ..he had meat hanging out his belly ...I put him in another tank and he made a full recovery and grew another inch!

yummy gold fish, no matter how big they are for my endli is just another crunchy snack

Hello,

mine - especially ornates - tended to eat every cichlid they could reach. Straight target everytime! If other feeders had been in the tank the ornates picked up the cichlids. The Polypterus palmas polli are good watchers and learned the trick.
Other feeders are eaten but not all-time favorites ... guppies and so on. A matter of taste i think ...

Greetings
Uwe

A 2.5" pink skirt tetra, like 5 ammano shrimp, and all my ottos. I have a harder time controlling algae w/o all my algae-eating critters, but I don't stock little guys anymore. Only larger fish (WHO DONT FIN-NIP).
