Just look on youtube for vids of silvers in the wild or outdoor ponds. You could try adding spirulina to their diet. It does help with colour. But trying to make ur silver colour up is like trying to colour with a white crayon on white paper. If you want more colour just but some blood parrots or Oscars.

I'm as big of a fish fanatic as the next guy here but this thread made me laugh a little. I mean some people keep fish. Some people feed fish color enhancing food. Some people buy fancy lights to make fish look good. Not many people try to give their fish a tan to make them look good. Only on mfk haha.

This is the best I've been able to do so far, using Hikari sticks. It is currently 20". When I went to pick it out, I aimed for it because it had the most reds out of all the others. Rule number one, in order for your arowana to show/retain the reds, it has to have it to begin with. One thing you have to realize about silver arowanas is that as they age, their vivid colors fades. When they are around 8 to 10 inches, that's when they show peak coloration. The only silver arowanas that are able to retain vivid colors throughout their lives (including reds/orange) are the ones found in the wild. There are far too many factors that determine why wild silver arowanas are able to retain these colors, and it's something that we cannot duplicate in captivity. The only thing that tanning would help with is making the scales darker, which I would like!

That aro looks amazing and yup tanning aros only on mfk!!! Well thanks a million for the pics any idea on what light I should invest in to darken up the scales because I cannot leave my whole window open 24/7.

I have had silvers before but none had any type of color to them at all. This Aro showed vibrant colors from the start to begin with that would be the only thing difference I can think of.

So far so good my aro is roughly 11in-12in long it's colors are very bright with colors from red, pink, blue and green. I have spoiled this fish from the start and tried to feed it everything and anything it wanted, all it would take was hikari food sticks. I am religious on the water changes 25% every 10days on the dot! He also has natural sunlight that directly hits him early morning on the right side of the tank where it spends most of its day at.

Just like Yan unfortunately it has gotten de in one eye. This fish was the calmest fish I've ever had out of all my aros. Never jumped just get startled when dark. I did notice de a couple days later after it jumped and hit the filter above him. I gave him 1 goldfish as a treat and as he was trying to catch him BAM knocks his head on it and left a little scar. Couple days later his eye started to droop..

As far as tanning and color enhancing I haven't experimented with any myself but best of luck!
