Tanning Aros???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Some people think far Red and near InfraRed frequencies will do the trick. Others think UltraViolet does it.
Koi Angelfish breeders use full spectrum lighting that includes everything from actinic, full spectrum white and red frequency plant bulbs(pinkish white) to get their angels to turn from orange to red. Not sure if it works the same in aros but it probably does.

I would use a combination of Geisemann bulbs, they have the highest PAR and PUR of any T-5 fluorescent bulb. Using bulbs for tanning your fish WILL INCREASE ALGAE in your tank. Be prepared for that. A UV sterilizer on your tank will help. Choose a combination of AquaPink, AquaBlue+ and AquaFlora. This combination will give you the best chance of causing a skin coloring, light induced reaction.

This combination of lights will also allow you to SEE the color better when your fish finally does react to the food and lighting. Your fish will also be healthier as these frequencies will help it process calcium, magnesium & Vitamin D3 better.

As for the shipping price for the foods I gave a link to, you just need to email THEM. It's been a few months since my last order and I don't recall the shipping prices.

Use blackwater extract or almond leaves. It may help, check out my thread at the media lounge.
I use tropical almond leaves myself. Several peeps here grow them. Be sure to always say TROPICAL before ALMOND or some guy from California will go out to an almond grove and dump temperate almond leaves in his tank... Not the same species, or even genus!!!!
