Tarpon Rodeo

its just 1 time a year, only for the contest im sure people let them go any other time
 
I know from fishing this rodeo that not that many tarpon come in or at least they didn't when I used to fish this thing. A lot of people know that you have to have a nice fish to even make the boards in this event and let most of the fish they catch go. When we used to fish the bull drum both red and black we would not keep anything under 35lbs. Even then you had to be lucky for those numbers to get you a trophy(plaques) I have some from when my grandpa used to fish this event that I will get some pictures of next time I got to my dads house. These things are carved out of wood with the tarpon on them.
 
the tarpon rodeos allway a good time. rajuncajun i would like to see those trophies. must be old if they were made of wood.
 
i heard that the specks that won were 8 pounds, but i dont know for sure, thats just what i heard down there.
 
damN!!!, the biggest one i caught was 15 in on a 7 inch croker(forget how to spell)
 
Yeh im not sure how old but they are kool. Give me till next week I'm working till Saturday and me and my father don't have the best relationship but I will get those pics they are pretty cool. Biggest spec I got was 7.5lbs. But that was many years ago. And judging from those pics o would say 8lbs is about right if not a little more. Nice to be able to talk to some pople from Louisiana about these things
 
friend of mine told me they were hittn down there last night. wish i was there right now with this moon.
 
yea,we mainly fish out of lake salvador, the pen, and the rigulies(how ever you spell it )
