I have fished the pen and the rigulies some. Do most my fishing out of lake hermatige and myrtle grove areas hit some shallow water areas for the reds. Bay round and lorieo, go out of venice every now and then. Hit the rigs and midnight lumps
 
nice, havent went in a lonbg time since we moved, packed every thing in our boat,
we got a 17' bonita with a 1972 70hp evinrude
 
i go outta cocodrie, mostly. hit timbaler isle, last isle, the pickets. but they were catchn off a pier last night. no boat needed.
 
nice, the best i ever did on land was black drum at the lake front, lost a 4ft+ =/
 
yeh I have some of those dock stories too. Same thing as you NOLA but I got mine in 37.6lbs on 12lbs test. Only reason was it was about 30 degrees outside and the fish was just kinda there had no fight at all I honestly thought I had hooked one of my crab traps.
 
that happened to me with a blue cat 20 feet from the boat, thougth i hooked a log, line would budge
 
man never fished the lake. i'v read they have been catchn some nice fish in there. tell ya what, i dont know what the big storms did. but the trout fishing down here really went nuts ever since katrina.
 
yea rajun thats a big drum. never caught one that big.
 
when my dads freind goes to empire they always catch monsters off pilings, when i go we never go to em -.-...
