you don't need a permit no, but you need to work within the means of what you have. A store near me jsut got in some Wallago Leeri but you don't see me rushing down there to buy them. Yes they are 12" and yes some time down the line i could have a 2000g pond in the future but I won't be buying them. I have just got my 320g and I am now considering a trio of the smaller P bass species but a 320g could still be too small by some peoples definition.

if you can get a 150g then do so before hand if you want to keep something bigger. Otherwise, with a 55g there are loads of things you could try. If you must have predatory, Cynodon Gibbus are very similar to Tats but only grow to 6-8" and would probably be ok in a 55g. A crazy shoal of Exodons is another option but there are lots of other things out there.

I asked a few months ago about Gibbus to each LFS in my area, none knew what the hell I was saying, I really need to move to So-cal...

EDIT; then try mail order. You're in the US of A- there is no reason that you can't because even I know they dcome up, you just need to find a trader who can get them. Shark Aquarium perhaps? I'm in the UK and i still look at his stock enviously.

I'm in the US of A where a 13 year old does not have $50 to blow just on shipping... If there was no child labor law I'd be happier....

you're looking at speciallist fish. You have to concede that if you want something speciallist, then you need to pay a little more. If you can't do that and i understand, I was 13 once too, then maybe you need to reduce your aspirations. Or find a closer speciallist.

Another argument for a specialllist is that you're more likley to find healthy fish. I am sorry that you lost the Tat you bought but speciallist fish from those who, by you're own explanation, don't know what they are doing, are bound to be in a poorer condition than those bought from someone who knows what they are selling. $50 spent on postage in the long run is probably cheaper than loosing 2/3 fish due to poor health.

Lemonade stand? I might be thirteen but that is some cheap work right there, Now an Oil stand on the highway is an idea but oil can get expensive.

Garage don't work on my cars but they do change my oil. I can't beat $30 for full synthetic plus oil filter doing it on my own. So I watch my buddies garage do it for me
