Just because they mature at a smaller size doesn't mean they are going to stay small..

30" TL is not 'dwarf' by any means IMO..
 
A lfs had one very similar to the ones pictured a year ago. It was about 7" diameter with big claspers. Came in labeled as a "red motoro". I almost bought it.
 
an lfs has a few here and the males are no joke 4" with rolled claspers. couldn't believe it when i saw them

i've heard from a few people that bought them that they can be tricky to get feeding once they come in. the lfs that has them has them in the back and it took 2 months to get 2 of them to eat

What are you basing your opinion on? The max size of P reticulata?? We dont know conclusively what species these red retic looking rays are so we dont know their maximum size.

Who said they get 30 inches?

Have you ever seen any larger than 8 inches? I havent........

Show me a 30 incher I would be curious to see one.

I believe sexually maturity at a small size is indicitive of the adult size. Look at all the monster rays leopoldi, Tigers, castexi etc, Do you see them with FULLY matured sex organs at 5 inches? Im also not just talking about having visible claspers Im talking fully rolled completely mature claspers.
 
I think by 30" TL he's talking including the tail, which means the disc may not be too much larger than 10-12".

But I would have to agree in that if they're becoming sexually mature at a smaller size, they may have a much smaller max size as well.
 
The point I was making was who said they get 30 inches long? we really dont know what species they are yet.

I know an import that just imported 5or6 of these. And his mature males are around 7inches. And one of the females came in pregnant and she is around 8inches. And she still has the pups in here. she should have them any day now
