any ideas for ten gallon tank that would make it unique? i know that a ten gallon tank is not exactly the place for monster fish, but it can still be dealt with nicely.

water parameters are about 8ph, 300dH, alkaline.

i am open to all including inverts, but no saltwater.

You could do a planted tank with a group of neons. That would look cool. Or a bunch of shellies. I am in the process or thinking of ideas for my 10g as well. Right now I have a fry in it, but once its grown enough to move I will be changing to sand subtrate, some rocks and we will see from there. Good luck with yours!

I can post a picture of mine when I find it for ya.

im sorry, can you clue me in on what shellies are? i was gonna do a group of neons originally, and there still on the table but i have bad luck with plants. they died in my big tank, but maybe my tank is too deep for them to get adequate lighting.

well by shellies he means small african cichlids that live in shells.

and i would do dwarf puffers. they are completely freshwater.

you could do dwarf rams and neons...that would be cool too

well now that i read about the shellies im interested in them. im not sure if my lfs would have them id have to call and ask them. ive been interested in keeping some sort of cichlid. how many could i put in a ten gallon tank? it sayd their territory is about 10 square inches, so eyeballing my tank id say two, but what else could go with them? or is this almost exclusive? and they seem like an easy setup to do, just sand and shells.

If it were mine I would do dwarf puffers but if you were thinking about neons and want chiclids you could do neons and a pair of dwarf chiclids.

i love having mini planted tanks with a few little fish
idk why, but having just big tanks isnt enough for me, i gotta have mini tanks too

yeah my lfs doesnt carry puffers. what about small cichlids? my lfs may have shellies, but they have a big tank of small cichlids that they label as assorted african cichlids, they are about as big as the tetras i have now, but it says that they only get to 4" would a pair of these work? theyre very colorful. im not opposed to neons, but id like the tank to have some character, and i think the cichlids would do this for me, if i just did neons i wouldnt change the tank, but adding sand and/or shells is very doable for me. i dont think that a 4" fish would be cramped in that tank, as i believe its 20" long, and ive had much larger fish in the tank, but that was also an error at my part, but i did not know nearly as much as i do now.

p.s. im not sure if my lfs carries rams or dwarf cichlids. another things id have to find out.
