Tenecor Nightmare

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldn't fill up that tank and I wouldn't try to fix it either, please exhaust all efforts to contact Tenecor before doing that. Leave the company a message on their answering machine, pm them here (they have an account) and email them (sales@tenecor.com). Whenever I've needed to contact them I've been able to get Brain Harnish on the phone. Maybe leave him a message.

Good luck with this.

Credit card company is your best friend, you can file a chargeback and it will FORCED them to communicate to fix the issue. Without it, they really have zero incentive to make things right.

thanks for your input guys.

i paid by TT transfer. didnt know there was an option to pay by credit card or i would have. wish i knew that option so i can dispute it with visa...

ive been emailing, phoning and nothing. its been 3 days since and the wait continues.

as i know, all the senior reps at tenecor left. (i wonder why...) i emailed jared and left him a voicemail. someone told me he is as high up as i can get. you would think they would check the panel before assembling the tank. im pretty sure NONE of the guys over there would even use this tank, especially in its present condition.

im just disappointed having to wait nearly 14 weeks for my tank only to get a defective tank. the messed up part is all the builder had to do was throw away the broken piece and get a nice piece!! goes to show how much that person cared about his job! i agree that the tank is nice. i dont feel like its my responsibility to fix this tank. i want to be able to sleep at night knowing there are NO FLAWS in my setup. i guess for now the wait continues.

IMO, I'm sure this happened after assembly, either at their plant or in shipping. It would be stupid to assemble a tank with a bad piece of acrylic, especially when you can use it on a slightly smaller tank after cutting it down. Plus, it's on a corner, so it would be reasonable to assume it happened from some type of light impact. I would definitely NOT immediately start filing anything to be hostile about it. The last thing you want to do is to piss off anybody you are looking for help from. I'm not saying never, but that should be the LAST thing to do once every amicable solution has been tried. Why can't you get a hold of anyone? Don't they answer the phone? How did you contact them to order? I would definitely make every attempt at a personal contact first, however you can do it. Good luck man. That sucks.

contact throughout the whole ordering process was pretty bad this time around. 3 of us ordered 3 tanks and basically all had issues. mine had the chip, one tank that was suppose to have rounded corners did not come in with it. different model shump shipped. missing bulkheads on arrival. missing feeding hole. i ordered blue acrylic back on my tank and got it with clear except they added blue vinyl. the list goes on... seems like after they received the cash, communication came to a crawl. this project was passed to 3 different people before it was sent out. no one notified me that i had someone new looking after my order. ive been pretty frustrated but will give them a week to respond. at that point i think its clear enough to judge whether they are going to do something about all these problems.

Man screw a week. If this is a reputable business, there should be someone answering the phone, or reponding to messages somewhat promptly, especially regarding something they have been paid for. I know I'm sometimes lax in getting back to people for new business when busy, but for a problem that needs to be resolved and they have been paid for already I would call every half hour and talk to a person and follow up quickly. No reason you shouldn't know where you stand on this issue pretty quickly.

What people don't understand about Tenecor is that they have been going downhill for a while. Knowing that, you can only assume that your requests will fall of deaf ears. The important thing to do is DOCUMENT everything. Pictures, emails, etc. Phone calls are great, but they provide no evidence of what was said. As I stated in one of the first posts, you need to notify your credit card company IMMEDIATELY. They can help with dispute resolution. If you paid by cash or check.... sorry to say, but you're likely SOL.

Tenecor does not have the inclination to fix this to save their name. They know it is pretty much shot around the industry, and it's only a matter of time before it happens at the hobbyist level. Protect yourself and your purchase. What you have now is an unsafe tank.
