Teug growth thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The whole thread is interesting but with burbotman, that's smaller than average to find for sale. I'm interested to see how it grows before it hits 4"

Yeah I'm just messing with you. I agree 100%. A teug that size is almost impossible to find in an lfs

Does anyone have any experience with adult teugelsi behaviour toward conspecifics? Seems I've read they get somewhat ornery towards each other, but have long ago lost that source.

Pertinent to this thread as I'm headed to the lfs next week and am tempted to pick up another little teug if they're still available.

O

Got some tape ruler shots

When I first got my teugelsi, they were all 4", except for one that was more like 3"

This was a month ago, March 15th

A month later, they have grown to 5" (the smallest one now 4"), which is my usual expectation for good steady growth: 1" per month

For the first week or two I was feeding once every other day. After two weeks, those feedings were not leaving a bulge in their stomachs (they had grown half an inch), so I bumped the feeding up to once or twice a day.

So far all they've eaten are hikari carnivore pellets.

Weekly 80% water changes.

It's hard to believe that cb Teugs can get long quickly. Realistic 12-14" first 12 months. Not many people buy them due to seasonal availability or cuz they're usually $40 at tiny worm sizes. I only know of one person who's had their teug for 2 years+ and grew to 17".

my tueg just hides under my driftwood. He is in a grow out with 2 broko peacocks, a achara catfish and a blue phantom pleco. He is about 5" now but never comes out..drives me crazy, he'll eat pellets but only if i drop them close enough to the piece he hides under.

Just got some pics of her tonight. She didn't want to be still for the camera at all. Probably because I had just fed them. She's getting pretty chunky. I think it would I need to skip a feeding or two hopefully after I feed them tilapia tomorrow they go on a hunger strike. But I believe she's measuring at about 5.5" though she seems larger in person.
