Oh and Carpintis are more of a bad *** version of a Texas, Carpintis are much more aggressive then a regular Texas. They are also nicer I would have one if I had a 75g to keep one plus they are too aggressive to keep in my aggressive community setup that is already destroying itself every time a fish grows another inch.
I'd beg to differ, i picked up a texas last week. He was in a tank of baby Dempseys and the employee swore it was a Dempsey. I was like whatever, i want it. It RAN that tank. This 1in. guy has no problem squaring up the the king Dempsey in my tank. I have a feeling this Texas is going to get too rowdy for my 90gal. He is a straight ball of muscle and energy, very different from the juvi Carpentis.

yeah IME cyanos are way more aggressive than carpintis, iv seen more cyanos have to be kept separate than carpinte and cyanos get bigger as well

Completely different from my Texas, All SA/CA have different behavior, For instance I had a Male Jack Dempsey that was so mean it would stand up to the 10" Pacu and he was only 4", So I took him back and bought a smaller female dempsey that I own currently and it's the most peaceful fish I've owned. It's a random chance you take when buying SA and CA cichlids you never know what you will get.

My Dempsey used to live with a school of Corydoras before I got him his own tank, and I had an Acara that was straight evil.

Exactly, You would never expect an Acara to be evil at all....

I couldnt have a better alpha fish in my tank. My Dempsey doesnt even know what aggression is. If a fish is in his spot he will make them move but not aggressively. The Female Terror keeps everybody in check, its funny. Fish can be any end of the aggression scale but you cant get a Red Devil or something of that nature and expect it to be nice. Once the pecking order is established your usually in good shape. Except for those few evil rouge fish, They will attack anything until it dies. Butt thats why i love cichlids. Gotta have respect for their feisty temperment because that is what made them such a successful animal in the wild.

Werd.... You may never know what your going to get with SA/CA cichlids but you get somthing like a cyno/RD/Trimac and put it in with JD's/GT's/Oscars/cons you can bet money the glass banger is going to say "my house now!" and make somone his "girlfriend" real quick.
