Thai Silk Flowerhorn pics...

Damn bro how big is the tank? If you have that many jd's in ur tank chances are the male EBJD's are going to choose a female jack instead of the female flowerhorn. Also I really don't think that it'll be happening if ur EBJD's are the same size or smaller than the FH female. The FH will go on beast mode in a couple of weeks and the EBJD's are known to get picked on. Remember that gold dempseys are as strong as regulars and ur EBJD's are at a disadvantage in your tank and that regular jack is a male so WATCH OUT!
Also whenever they're old enough to breed u'll need to raise the temperature a few degrees to around 82 to 84 degrees and that usually makes all fish more aggressive. I'd get a school of Giant Danios if I were you. "Just a suggestion."
But dude, regardless of everything if you can make it happen it'd be an awesome looking fry so don't let me stop u from trying... I'll buy some of the fry for sure if u wanna sell it later. Keep me posted. =]
I'm trying to breed my blue jack with a Green Texas right now. My intention is to cross their fry with another EBJD to create a stronger "Blue fish" since Texans are extremely hardy...my EBJD is 6 inches and she is 4 inches, hopefully they'll wanna boink soon. Wish me luck =]

Actually the regular Jack turned out to be a female and she is now bonded to the biggest male EBJD, she also protects him from all the other jacks so that's a plus, and the two bonded ones don't seem to fight at all after they went through a brief lip locking match about a month ago. Also the Regular Jack, besides being female is a Blue Gene, so a side effect of this breeding project is that I will be able to sell off BG and EG JDs to be able to afford to buy a big UV sterilizer. I am borrowing one right now and it seems to make a huge difference in protecting the fish from protozoans and the infections from the inevitable fighting damage. As far as the female Thai-silk being a bully, so far she has never made a single aggressive act in the tank while I was watching and I watch the tank a lot. Eventually I will select of of the male EBJDs, sell off all the others and have only that male EBJD and the female Thai-Silk Flowerhorn in the whole 150 gallon tank. I will probably sell the rest off as they pair up as bonded proven breeder pairs, I can get more cash for them that way. The temprature is right at 79*F right now. How important is the temperature raise to get them to breed? Is it 100% required? I did have a school of giant danios and a school of albino tinfoil barbs. Someone attacked them all in the night and killed them one by one until I learned the trick of keeping them safe. I now run a nightlight next to the tank. The dither fish can better see who is sneeking up on them at night trying to attack them. I am down to one giant danio and one albino tinfoil barb. I started the nightlight a few weeks ago and have not had either of them get attacked since. I was planning on getting more of both after payday...

Good luck with with the texas/jack project. Ever consider an Cenote Escondido type Texas instead for more color coverage instead of a regular green?

Yes I have but they seem kinda hard to find. BTW none of my jacks seem to like the Texas female...kinda blows cause I was sure something was about to happen then one day she's on the top corner with a couple of split fins looking terrorized..So I moved her into a 5 inch red devil tank to try to go for Red devil/Texas hybrids and same thing happened... I think this female is too nice and passive, males tend to like the more difficult "play hard to get" ones...similar to us humans lol

Any updates?
Yes, The Thai-Silk Female DESTROYED all the EBJDs, JDs, and Gold JDs. She literally ate the bodies after she gradually killed everyone in the tank. She has not touched my school of Venezuelan Red Sailfin Corys. They are not viewed as "Fish" to her. So I added a Rose Queen Flowerhorn male of about the same size and they immediately bred and fell in love. Fast Forward a few months later... The Rose-Queen is 2.5 times the size of the eight inch Thai-Silk female and he has a fairly nice sized "knob" The RQ male beats up the TS every time they spawn(every two weeks) so the TS female is fairly battle-scared but tough as nails! The RQ male has not a single scar or mar and is in immaculate condition, more slenderly graceful despite his aggression during breeding. The RQ looks to be 18" long now. I am amazed at his length!!! The female at only 8" is however a very heavy thick round egg production machine. It's a shame that Rose Queens are sterile. I am in the process of getting some hCGT to kick in sperm production so they can actually have some babies to raise.

Here is the most current pic I have of them. This is about when I added the RQ male.

I love her color... one of my favourites.

He is actually more purple than this picture shows. The flash fades out the color. I have the human Chorionic Gonadatropin on order. They will get injections after the next spawn up until they spawn again and then I should have live fry!
