i'm glad i've got my own well water, sorry for your loss.
 
Well water can contain ammonia as well. I ran into that a few weeks ago. Bacteria in the lines somewhere was causing ammonia. I've since had a softener, filter, chlorine injector, and a zeo-prep filter installed. I've never had better water in my entire life! I now have to use a dechlorinator, but that's minor.
 
the 20 gallons i pulled out of my tank with lots and lots of driftwood triggered my peppered corys to spawn :)
so i guess its not a total loss...
